Position Purpose/SummaryThe Laboratory Technician is responsible for a variety of clinical research laboratory duties of a routine and technical nature in support of clinical trials.

This role completes all study related procedures under the direction of the Unit Director or designee.

It is essential that this position maintains accurate, confidential files and documentation of study participants.

In executing these position responsibilities, the Laboratory Technician/ Phlebotomist is guided by Good Clinical Practices (GCP), International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines, and company standard operating procedures and policies.

Essential Job FunctionsGeneralAs directed by the Unit Director or designated manager, provide general support to the project teams which may include logging, tracking, and filing study paperwork; executing study mailings and faxes (when necessary)Filing and maintaining laboratory documentsMaintain information in study department databases (e.G.

Study Manager)May help process, enter, and validate dataEstablish and maintain central laboratory filesTrack, distribute, and assist in establishing accountability for investigational lab kits and other related supplies.Provides reports to managers, as needed in maintaining up-to-date information on clinical study activityAssist with scheduling and organizing participantsPerform safety assessments (ie: vital signs, ecgs, and phlebotomy) as trained and delegated.Obtain medical information from participantsComply with the confidentiality of research dataStudy, learn and comply with ERG site standard operating procedures, and other policies, practices and regulations where applicable.Performs other duties as assigned Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty.

The ideal candidate will have:1 year of clinical research experience is preferredHigh School Diploma or its equivalentUnderstands regulatory requirements, as well as Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and International Conference on Harmonization (ICH) guidelines.Knowledgeable in medical terminologyKnowledge, Skills and Abilities:Excellent communication skills (interpersonal, written, verbal)Ability to perform overnight business travelBasic computer skills to include Word, Excel, as well as proprietary applications unique to the clinical research industry (such as Study Manager) Work Environment: This is a high growth, fast paced small organization.
