TYPICAL POSITION FUNCTIONS: Distribution and Inventory Control Manager is responsible for ensuring inventory flows into warehouses as planned and is optimized for capacity constraints and asset utilization.
The successful candidate will collaborate with Supply Chain, Sales, and Operations to address gaps to plan and communicate risks and resolutions to stakeholders.
The successful candidate will accurately and efficiently monitoring all aspects of day-to-day inventory movement including receiving, material flow on the production floor, warehouse management, cycle counts, shipping and overall inventory management.
The focus is on efficiency, timeliness, quality, and accuracy.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Manage inbound and outbound, planning and material flow, across multiple warehouse sites for ocean, air, rail and road deliveries
· Manage and schedule internal logistics and routing movements throughout operations process
· Ensure accuracy of inventory from receiving, staging, transfers and goods issue in the ERP system.
Report inaccuracies in the BOM to Engineering and Quality Assurance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Collaborate cross-functionally with the Planning, Quality, Customer Service and Production, to control and align physical and systematic transactions, maintaining accurate inventory levels
· Coordinate with Quality department for non-conformance and sorting of raw materials, WIP and finished goods.
· Implement and manage, effective inventory cycle count program, input data into ERP system for accurate record keeping.
· Assess warehouse storage facility requirements for optimal use of floor and vertical space throughout facility.
· Work closely with accounting department to maintain accurate inventory record keeping, supporting elimination of Year-End Inventory.
· Conduct root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies and develop appropriate procedures to prevent recurrence.
· Train the Materials team to ensure inventory errors are within acceptable standard to maintain inventory integrity.
· Act as a liaison between sales, purchasing and planning departments to determine stressed, obsolete and aged inventory, optimizing inventory turnover and asset utilization.
· Define inventory levels in coordination with master scheduling, forecasted demand and logistics constraints.
· Organize material handling staff and schedules to support production and warehouse activities.
· Manage communication and scheduling with domestic and international freight forwarders.
· Manage transportation and handling assets (truck, trailer, forklift, lift trucks, etc.) POSITION REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
· 4 year undergraduate degree from accredited University
· Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Materials Manager in a production environment.
· Minimum 5 years’ experience with ERP, Microsoft Excel, Access database or equivalent
· Effective interpersonal and leadership skills to direct an efficient team.
· Ability to work in and promote a team environment.
· Effective organizational skills, ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively.
· Ability to effectively communicate across all levels within the organization, suppliers, and others as needed.
PREFERRED:
· Prior experience in medical production or a highly regulated environment is preferred.
· Prior experience with QAD ERP system
· ASCM CPIM certification
