Windows Systems Engineer
Location: Bethesda, MD

This position is based in Bethesda, MD.
Responsibilities:
– Perform best practice desktop engineering support for an enterprise environment consisting primarily of Windows desktops/servers
– Perform application packaging, deployments, documentation, and release control in an enterprise IT environment
– Perform secure baseline image creation, testing, and deployment for multiple hardware configurations
– Perform OS installation, patching, updates, and upgrades for Windows desktops/servers
– Leverage expertise with technologies such as SCCM, Group Policy, Microsoft Deployment Toolkit, Active Directory, MBAM/BitLocker, PowerShell, Ivanti Endpoint Security, BlackBerry/Cylance Protect
– Provide advice, technical consultation, and Tier 3 support guidance by analyzing and resolving problems and evaluating alternative means of satisfying user requirements
– Research and implement new technology to service the client and the team while staying up to date on the latest solutions and communicate with the vendors to ensure the best option is provided
– Engage in requirements gathering and validation with stakeholder groups to understand and address current needs across the desktop and server environments, as well as emerging/future trends
– Research, test, and deploy security patches and vulnerability mitigation and remediation configuration changes
– Provide after-hours and weekend support for reported outages
– Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation
– Effectively support a blend of operational and project-based engineering/administration activities

Requirements:
– 6+ years of relevant, applicable professional experience
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Applied Sciences or related disciplines
– Strong verbal and written communications skills, with the ability to collaborate and consult with diverse stakeholder groups
Desired Experience:
– Demonstrated experience providing systems administration and engineering support for Windows 10 or Windows Server 2016+
– Proficient in developing and deploying software installation packages across enterprise environments
– Proficient in creating and editing MSI installers, Windows batch, and PowerShell scripts
– Proactively addressing vulnerabilities and supporting remediation activities
– Creating customized reports leveraging endpoint management technologies
– Strong SCCM experience in the development, testing, and deployment of packages and images
– Demonstrated experience in developing rigorous testing disciplines to ensure stable computing platforms
– Demonstrated experience in consulting with end-users to identify and understand needs, as well as developing tailored solutions to address complex technical needs
– Experience managing group policy, reviewing existing policies, and proposing changes to increase performance, efficiency, and security across the environment
