Technical Writer Key Tasks Research, write, edit, and proofread technical data for use in documents or sections of documents such as manuals, procedures and specifications.

Ensures technical documentation is accurate, complete, meets editorial and government specifications and adheres to standards for quality, graphics, coverage, format, and style.

Assists in establishing style guidelines and standards for texts and illustrations.

Interacts with subject matter experts to extract technical information, which becomes the content for documents.

Uses government templates as the formatting standards for most documents.

Critical Knowledge Skills Working knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint Working knowledge of RoboHelp and Adobe Acrobat Professional Must have excellent written communication and editing skills Familiarity with Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) standards and required documentation for CMMI Interpersonal skills for interacting with end users and Team Members Ability to navigate, quickly grasp and document the functions of Application Systems Education Pluses A bachelorrsquos degree in an applicable technical field or equivalent experience Four to Six years of technical writing and copy editing experience are required Experience with MS Access, MS Visio, and MS Project is a plus Knowledge of 508 compliance standards for documents is a plus Familiarity with AGILE development and SCRUM methodology is plus Familiarity with Centers for Medicare Medicaid Services (CMS) security related documentation CFACTS etc.
