They capture and translate mission and customer requirements in order to transform them into capabilities, testing, and validation of services.
Systems Engineers analyze and allocate requirements to systems architecture components and oversee the development, testing, and validation of systems and services.
They also coordinate the integration of systems and services into enterprise architecture and oversee deployment.Additional Job InformationADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) serves as the world leader in providing timely, relevant, accurate and actionable geospatial intelligence (GEOINT).
NGA’s civilian, military and contract personnel evaluate imagery, maps, charts, multiple layers of foundation data
– such as terrain, elevation and gravity
– and the full spectrum of visible and invisible light in order to help users visualize what is happening at a particular place and time.

NGA uses a flexible, high mobility career model.
Individuals are hired for their overall skills within a specialty such as Systems Engineer, and then placed in various positions throughout the agency once they complete the clearance process.
Although currently advertised as a No, Permanent, telework-ineligible job posting with occasional travel, it is unknown which specific positions will be available after applicants complete the selection and clearance process.
Because of this, aspects of the job such as travel, supervisory, telework, etc…may change, depending on specific positions available at that time.
It is also possible that applicants could be hired into a position with specific aspects and then change positions after serving for a period of time in that assignment.
Applicants who have completed the clearance process receive final documentation about the nature of the specific position before they make the final commitment to join NGA.Duties: may include, but are not limited to:* Gather, consolidate, and prioritize multi-organizational requirements.* Define Solution Epic Lean Business Cases, Solution Epic Minimum Viable Products, Program Epic Minimum Viable Product Features, andassociated system requirements.* Understand and support implementation of agile development practices.* Support creation and maintenance of “to-be” solution architecture, time-phased implementation roadmap, holistic set of mission-basedeffectivities, and agile development artifacts needed to support development and integration efforts.* Perform analyses of alternatives to determine best value to the government for potential technologies and/or solution architectures.* Identify cross-program dependencies and work across the organization and with multiple program offices to coordinate their inclusion andtime-phasing with the appropriate program baselines, consistent with the needs of IPA.* Maintain awareness, and provide oversight of the development, integration, testing, and sustainment of mission capabilities to validatethat they are interoperable and provide the functionality, performance, and usability required to satisfy the end users’ mission needs.This position may be eligible for an INCENTIVE: selected candidates may be offered an incentive as part of the offer of employment, based on budget availability.

Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Engineering, Engineering Management, Information Science, Information Systems Management, Information Technology, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Technology Management, System Engineering, or a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems, or networks.

Combination of Education and Experience: A minimum of 24 semester (36 quarter) hours of coursework in any area listed in option A, plus experience in Information Technology, systems planning, research, development, engineering, or a related area that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the duties associated with this work.
As a rule, every 30 semester (45 quarter) hours of coursework is equivalent to one year of experience.
Candidates should show that their combination of education and experience totals 4 years.
