Vaco Technology is currently recruiting for a Systems Engineer for an investment management firm. This is a 6-month initial contract position with a high probability of being extended. The position will start as remote but has plans to eventually shift into a hybrid work environment. The client’s preference would be for the employee to be located in one of the following areas: Seattle, WA, Boston, MA , or Twin Cities area (Minneapolis-Saint Paul, MN).
The Systems Engineer will focus on providing well thought out technical solutions to the business, day to day systems administration as well as playing a critical role in driving both systems and operational maturity. This position will plan, implement, and document technology-based solutions that enable business stakeholders. The primary focus for this position will be on Endpoint Solutions & Management for their ever-growing VDI environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Ensure continuous and reliable operations (24/7) of data center systems
- Maintain and support targeted systems, which include BC/DR response infrastructure
- Provide engineering support for escalated issues from Helpdesk as needed; works with Senior Systems Engineers or Systems Engineering Manager to resolve complex issues
- Responsible for planning, testing, and implementing business solutions.
- Create proposals and technical scope documents for prioritized projects.
- Coordinate with engineer specialists to implement, troubleshoot, and analyze systems and services
- Responsible for maintaining and engineering endpoint solutions & application delivery.
- Maintain accurate documentation of topology, systems, services, and configurations.
- Provide analytical data on systems capacity and performance on a scheduled basis.
- Contribute to systems documentation and knowledge base
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
- College degree in an IT related field preferred
- 5+ years of experience in engineering business solutions in a wide range of technologies
- Specific experience with Active Directory, SCCM, Windows 10, and Windows 2008/2012/2016.
- Expertise with monitoring and alerting, and configuration management
- Must have expertise with VMware vSphere, vCenter and VDI
- Expertise with Endpoint Solutions & Management (SCCM, VMware Horizon, Endpoint Security, GPO, VMware Application Pools – RDSH)
- Knowledge with IT security best practices (CISSP is helpful)
- Basic familiarity with hybrid storage arrays such as Nimble and storage replication
- Familiarity with Apple systems on a corporate network
- Knowledge of the financial industry or a very strong desire to learn
- Firm commitment to continuous improvement of IT operations and the ability to tactfully challenge, to introduce new ideas when/where appropriate
- Strong organization, problem solving and time management skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working in a fast paced, high-effort, dynamic work environment
- Maintaining a professional, helpful demeanor
- Strong ability to earn stakeholder trust.
Pay range: $60-$75/hr W2
