You’ll work to quickly understand diverse technologies, and establish and maintain relationships with groups who see and talk about things differently.Job SummaryThe Systems Engineer will ensure the optimal implementation of Surescripts’ technology infrastructure.
This includes designing, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing IT infrastructure, including server hardware, storage solutions, virtual infrastructure, and enterprise software solutions.
The person will also analyze and resolve end user hardware and software computer problems escalated from other IT staff in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end user training where required.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and Engineering of the organizations systems infrastructure physical, virtual, Private and PublicDatacenter facilities planning (space, power, design and inventory)Participate as needed with budget planning exercisesWork across the entire organization and collaborate as necessary to ensure systems/environments/provisioning will meet/exceed the business requirementsProactively leverage data and performance analytics to optimize systems and systems architecture to ensure SLAs are appropriately met or exceededSometimes lead efforts to identify and alleviate performance bottlenecks with core systems infrastructureWork within the Systems group to generate the necessary reports and summaries detailing utilization, capacity and performance and recommendations when necessary.Participate in and support tasks relative to capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and applicationsRecommends and implement policies, procedures, and technologies to ensure system security through secure system access, monitoring, control, and routine security evaluations.Define/document standard configuration as it applies across the enterprise (failover clustering, VM clustering, system configuration, OS deployment, patch management) for Private and Public infrastructureWork with Systems admin group to ensure all necessary system configuration backups are performed and systems can be recovered within its specified SLA (RTO).Role will provide major focus on repeatable Automation, Orchestration of critical infrastructureProactively mitigate, identify, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software problems on all systems as necessary.
Update knowledgebase as necessary to allow for Systems administrators to perform necessary recurring tasks and processes for avoiding, mitigating and resolving system related issues.Recommend and execute modifications to systems in order to improve efficiency, reliability, and performance in accordance with established Change control protocol.Conduct research on Windows & Linux-related hardware and software in support of procurement and system development efforts.Ensure systems comply with policies, standards, licensing agreements, configuration guidelines, and best-practices for maintaining regulatory compliance.Performs appropriate analysis on possible solutions including TCO/ROI to make clear recommendations to the business.Perform security audits leading to identification and mitigation of security threats to enterprise data.
Recommend and implement changes where necessary.QualificationsBasic Requirements:Strong working knowledge of Public Cloud service5 years of experience in systems engineering role3 + years working with VMware technologies (vSphere / ESXi 5.5+)3 + years working with automation and configuration management tools3 + years experience with Container technologies and Operations3 + years managing Active Directory and Group Policy Objects3 + years supporting datacenter Operations3+ years experience in DevOpsPreferred Qualifications:Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving & analytical thinkingHeavy aptitude for automation and orchestration of infrastructure and environmentsAble to handle large projects end to endKnowledge of enterprise storage and backup SolutionsExperience with Google Cloud, AWS, Public Cloud ServicesKnowledge of ServiceNow & ITIL methodologiesExperience with Log Management and metric collectionWe are currently working from home.
Offices are open to those who want to go in with health safety protocols in place.
