Staff Systems Engineer

Job Description:

ENSCO Inc is a diverse engineering and technology company that provides engineering, science and advanced technology solutions that guarantee mission success, safety, and security to governments and private industries worldwide. We are seeking a Launch Systems Engineer to support launch system SE&I activities for the Launch Enterprise (LE) Directorate at SMC. The position is located at Vandenberg Air Force Station, CA.   Key aspects of this oversight will include the following:

  • Requirements Management
  • Architecture Management
  • Technical Baseline Management
  • Requirements Management
  • Launch Vehicle Acquisition Support
  • New Entrant Launch Vehicle Certification activities
  • Launch Mission Assurance activities, in cooperation with FFRDC
  • Launch Scheduling and Mission Assignments
  • Coordination with launch vehicle providers, satellite developers, associate contractors, FFRDC, and launch program office teams

Qualifications Required (Skills):

  • BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or STEM field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience with National Security Space Launch (NSSL) systems and processes
  • Thorough understanding of launch vehicle practices launch site preparations flow and day-of-launch procedures.
  • General understanding of NSSL vehicle launch interface requirements, launch transportation and processing requirements
  • Must have experience in one of the following areas:
    • Guidance and Navigation systems, control systems, communications systems, digital communication protocol, electrical power distribution, control, transmission devices and signal processing,
    • Instrumentation, electromagnetic compatibility and interference, electrical interfaces and avionics electronics
    • Electrical Ground Support Equipment, test tools, engines, mechanical devices, turbines, propulsion and fluids
    • Materials and Properties, contamination control and ordnance 
    • Mechanical Ground Support Systems, life support systems, and environmental control
  • AN ACTIVE DOD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION FOR WHICH YOU MUST BE A US CITIZEN.  IF YOU DO NOT MEET THIS REQUIREMENT, YOU WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

  • INCOSE Certification
  • TS/SCI Clearance
  • Work proficiently on unusually complex technical problems and provide solutions which are highly innovative and ingenious
