Job Description POSITION OVERVIEW The Senior Systems Engineer supports both internal and external users with technical and application issues. Working under generalminimal supervision, provides support to development team and escalations from tier 2 support, by responding to and diagnosing problems using troubleshooting skills and tools. Includes problem recognition, research, isolation, resolution and follow-up steps. Will interact with network services, software systems engineering, andor applications development to restore service andor identify and correct core problem. Works with team ensuring systems are available and up. Takes proactive actions to ensure environment is healthy. Assists development team with deployments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSRESPONSIBILITIES bull Level three support role, providing support to internal and external customers. bull Provide support utilizing internal ticketing system, being on-call, and responding system alerts. bull Provide accurate and creative solutions to system problems from moderate to large nature to ensure availability and system stability. Able to speak to network, SAN, Windows, IIS, clustering, and F5 Load balancing issues. bull Monitor systems and proactively identify trends. bull Acquire and maintain domain knowledge of relevant products (software and hardware) and support policies in order to provide accurate solutions to customers. bull Deploy code utilizing system tools. Be able to assist with any system issues after code is deployed. bull Assist in the developing and maintaining of a problem resolution knowledgebase. bull Recommend systems modifications. bull Work with internal business stakeholders to understand business needs and create solutions using knowledge of systems. bull Work with and directly communicate with Sr. Leaders and Executives with minimal oversight Job Qualification Skills bull Aptitude for providing excellent customer service. bull Good communication, problem solving skills and written skills. bull Ability to use Service Desk standards and follow guidelines. bull Broad range of infrastructural (network, Windows server, storage, load balancer, and systems) knowledge is required. bull Maintains currency and high level of technical skill in field of expertise. bull Able to be on call and work “off hours” when necessary. bull Able to actively assist with large multi-million-dollar projects. bull Knowledge of advanced System Administration functions. bull Must work well with a distributed team of equally qualified coworkers. bull Ability to troubleshoot and take the lead on technical issues and find root cause. bull Must be skilled in Microsoft technologies including IIS, .NET (infrastructurally), Windows 20XX, and conversant in Microsoft SQL. bull Must be skilled in Linux environments (CentOS, Red Hat, Ubuntu, etc.), including advanced Linux administration and patching. bull Need working knowledge of networking, FTP, load balancing, SAN storage, and virtual servers. bull Advanced scripting abilities, including ability to leverage various scripting languages to automate repetitive tasks. Education bull Two-year technical degree or equivalent work-related experience required. bull ITIL Certification (preferred) Experience bull 4-8 years of directly related experience.
