Sr. Data Engineer

Job Summary:

Signature Consultants is seeking a Sr. Data Engineer for an opportunity with a client located in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

Responsibilities:

• Design and develop highly scalable and reliable data engineering pipelines to process large volumes of data across many data sources in the cloud
• Identify, design and implement internal process improvements by automating manual processes and optimizing data delivery
• Develop and promote best practices in data engineering
• Develop real-time data processing applications using Google Cloud
• Be part of the on-call rotation supporting our SLA’s
• Participate in design and code reviews
• Work closely with operations and product management teams to analyze changing needs, develop solutions, and deliver quality and cost-effective results
• Work flexibly within the Product Development team to solve known problems and discover and pursue transformations of opportunities to reduce cost, complexity, and risk
• Adapt to changing needs, domains, technologies, and programming languages
• Apply technology to automate or transform tasks from high cost and high touch to low cost and low effort
• Perform development integration and system testing to ensure delivery of defect free code
• Ensure the development efforts are within the estimated time and delivered as scheduled
• Follow development processes and policies and engage with the larger team to continuously improve the effectiveness of the team
• Coordinate with business analysts, product designers, and other domain experts within the company to understand the functional and technical requirements
• Follow industry best practices in all approaches to software design, development, deployment, and support
• Mentor junior, associate or intern level developers that are looking for guidance
• Provide estimates for development efforts as needed

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
• Hands-on experience working in data warehousing or data engineering environment
• Advanced SQL programming skills
• Experience developing data solutions on GCP or AWS
• Experience in ingestion of data from external APIsand data stores
• Experience in design, build and operationalization of big data pipelines on Cloud Technologies.on problem-solving, quality and ability to execute
• Strong experience in authoring, scheduling, and monitoring of workflows (Apache Airflow related technologies)
• Strong communication & interpersonal skills
• Google Cloud Certified – Professional Data Engineer certification would be a plus
• Knowledge of Git, Jinja2, Docker, Bitbucket, and Bamboo
• Familiar with a NoSQL database such as MongoDB
• Familiar with version control systems (Git and Bitbucket)
• Familiar with Atlassian products Jira and Confluence
• Hands-on experience with Apache Airflow or Google Composer
• 7+ years in software development
• 5+ years in Java, with expertise in Spring and/or JavaEE
• 2+ years in SQL (MySQL, Postgres, SQL Server, or other relational db)
• Additional fluency in multiple programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, Nodejs, or C#
• Working knowledge of containerization technologies like Kubernetes, Docker Swarm or Rancher
• Web services, including REST, SOAP, API
• Developing cloud-native applications (Google Cloud a plus)
• Working knowledge of HTML5, CSS, ReactJS, Bootstrap, Angular, and other web frameworks
• Assembly, deployment, troubleshooting, and monitoring of application
• Utilizing quality-oriented development techniques such as TDD, BDD, Agile ceremonies, CI/CD, unit testing, and static code analysis
• Healthcare interoperability standards (HL7, XCPD, XCA, XUA, XCDR, ATNA, FHIR)
• PKI certificate infrastructure (TLS 1.2, TLS 1.3)
• Security standards and secure coding (OAuth, SAML, JWT, OWASP, NIST)
• Big Data management (Data Warehouse, Data Lake, ETL, ELT)
• Deep expertise in automated testing strategies
