Ref ID: 02300-0011560584 Classification: Database Administrator Compensation: DOE We have a client looking to bring in a SQL Database Administrator to join their team to manage their database environment. Their envrionment consist of SQL server 2012 and 2016, and will including doing performance tuning, monitoring event logs, and handling escalations from the users for any issues on the applications running on these databases. We are looking for someone who can work on a team but also work independently. We are seeking someone who is local in Minnesota as some on-site work may be required, and there is potential for this contractor to be hired on with the company. If you are interested in discussing this position further, please contact Amanda Hennek with Robert Half Technology at 612-359-4960 or via e-mail at amanda.hennekrht.com What you get to do every day – Suggest solutions for database design, tuning options, and other potential issues for SQL databases – Fix SQL database service outages when they happen, which can include after hours and weekends – Handle the installation, configuration, and maintenance of all database instances across development, staging, and production environments – Configure database monitoring utilities to avoid false alarms – Ensure the design and execution of database server topology, configuration, and maintenance meet company objectives – Monitor for deviation in baseline system performance, and advise on and execute improvements to slow running queries – Determine the best way to improve performance, whether through hardware purchases, server configuration changes, or index/query changes Job Requirements: – Experience developing and supporting documentation – Command of Microsoft SQL Server – Azure SQL Database experience desired – 4 years of database experience – Familiarity with relational database management systems – Experience in production environments and willingness to be on-call – Storage and server hardware experience a plus – Prior experience adjusting queries to enhance performance Robert Half Technology matches IT professionals with some of the best companies on a temporary, project or full-time basis.
