Space Systems Test Software Engineering Leader

The Boeing Company is currently looking for a Space Systems Test Software Engineering Leader to join our team in El Segundo, California. This position will be a first line Manager and will have direct reports to lead the Space Systems Test Execution Software Engineering organization.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Managing Software Engineers performance
  • Performing Software Engineers performance management, hiring, retention, rewards and recognition, and goal setting
  • Coaching, counseling, mentoring and providing developmental opportunities for Software Engineers
  • Developing employee engagement activities to motivate and engage the software engineering workforce
  • Providing a culture and an environment for employee execution success
  • Managing Software Engineers that develop, design, and maintain products for Special Test Equipment (STE) in support of satellite systems test execution
  • Supporting the development and execution of software in support of satellite test execution plans
  • Implementing policies and procedures and tactical and strategic goals
  • Acquire people and resources for test programs, projects and processes
  • Providing software engineering oversight for software design and code implementation for test
  • Developing and maintaining relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports
  • Supporting the development and management of RF, digital, analog and power systems
  • Collaborating with cross functional departments to ensure that system objectives are being met
  • Defining software technical roadmaps to support current and future satellite test programs
  • Work closely with senior engineers to develop the best technical architectures and designs for new product development
  • Executing critical program staffing and redeployment activities, and identification of Software Engineering strategic skills

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. A Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) post start is required.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or physics
  • Experience leading or managing projects and/or teams
  • Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Single Scope Background Investigation (SSBI) by the federal government within the last 6 years
  • Experience in software system integration and test
  • Experience developing/maintaining team schedules, resource management, earned value management, risk management, and project management
  • Demonstrated/proven ability to work well with customer(s) and focus on customer satisfaction
  • Experience with Model Based Engineering (MBE) including Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Model Based Definition (MBD) and Agile is desired
  • Experience with Windows, Linux and embedded systems
  • Object oriented programming language experience is desired
