Software Quality Assurance Engineer (Software QA Engineer) is an important member of the Quality Assurance department.
The Quality Assurance department is responsible for planning and executing a series of systematic tests necessary to ensure adequate quality for our products.
Primarily, the Software QA Engineer works very closely with the Software QA Manager and other Software QA Engineers to test the application.
Their main objective is to validate existing software functionality, improve usability, and eliminate bugs, primarily through manual testing.
A large part of this will involve building out test cases, documenting bug reports, validating bug fixes, and testing new features.
The Software QA Engineer also responds to software quality assurance issues which arise from other teams such as Development, Implementation, Sales and Technical Support.
Part of this will entail investigating escalated items from these teams.
The Software QA Engineer will investigate, collect all the necessary information pertaining to the software failure, and, if necessary, document it.
Software QA Engineer will also help the Development team fix technical issues and bugs discovered in the application by providing them with appropriate logs and information necessary to investigate.
The Software QA Engineer routinely participates in software development & design team meetings.
Basic Function
Execute functional, smoke, end to end, system, and performance test cases.
Validate features and bug fixes in multiple phases of the SimCapture application
Coordinate with developers to resolve cases and understand requirements as needed.
Identify, document and report discovered software failures in a bug tracking system.
Investigate escalations from the support team and document potential bugs or improvements.
Execute frequent regression tests to gauge ongoing quality and stability of software application.
Gather and document software failure information from log files, databases, configuration files.
Assist Software QA Manager in developing new test cases & test rack management.
Work closely with other QA members to master the application and solve complex problems.
Give input as to valuable functionality and fixes that we should add to the application.
Skills
Demonstrated ability to understand system & product requirements and map it to testing needs.
Good conceptual understanding of web applications including web servers, databases, browsers.
Experience troubleshooting in Windows.
Solid understanding in all aspects of testing and QA methodology.
Ability to multi-task with superior decision-making, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Acute attention to detail and must thrive working in an agile environment.
Experience in a defect management system.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Optionally, having experience troubleshooting hardware and Windows OS issues would be a plus.
Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree in any IT or engineering field required.
Experience
Minimum 0-5 years of experience in a relevant role in development, quality assurance, engineering, or product support.
