Software Engineer

This position is in support of the METTS II contract as a part of the Aerie Aerospace Joint Venture (JV) located at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center (MSFC) on the Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, Alabama. This position is in direct support of the Propulsion Test Branch and contractor personnel.

This role will provide support for both NASA Propulsion Systems and Propulsion Test Branches.  The successful candidate will work closely with both NASA and contractor personnel.

Essential Job Functions:

• Should have a good working knowledge of programming languages such as, SQL, Java, C/C++/C#, Ruby, Python, JavaScript, Visual Basic and specific knowledge of FileMaker development and the relational database structures.  
• Must have the ability to implement troubleshooting techniques for existing applications, scripts, and utilities.
• A working knowledge of system administration practices using SQL Server is a plus, with an understanding of multiple computer platforms.

• Work closely with NASA customer to design, implement, and maintain our existing FileMaker application utilizing required tools and technologies. 
• Write well-designed, testable, and efficient code.
• Utilize understanding of system analysis in order to migrate to other database platforms
• Report and reproduce product issues, test product solutions.
• Design screens, write and test code/scripts.
• Train end-users in changed or added features.
• Strive to continuously improve software programs, processes and practices.
• Be capable of problem identification, analysis and resolution.
• Create technical system documentation and ensure that this documentation remains current throughout all phases.
• Database Management:  SQL, SQL Server
• Good analytical skills

• Good communication skills in order to gather, understand, and meet customer requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related experience in programming, database development, web development, scripting is preferred.
• Associates Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related discipline will be considered with the appropriate experience.

• Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
• Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position.
• Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company.
• Must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements
• Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.

Additional | Preferred Experience:

• Understanding of data acquisition system principles.
• Training or experience in MS Access, VBS, Filemaker or ASP.NET a plus. 
• Experience or working knowledge of LabVIEW System Design Software.
