Job Description:

Mission Solutions directorate of Parsons Space is now hiring a full-time Software Engineer to support NASA’s Space Communication Network Services (SCNS) program at the WSC in Las Cruces, NM. We need our Software Engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities, and be enthusiastic to tackle new challenges. The successful candidate will review system architecture, and select and implement appropriate development and support tools to ensure product performance. Parsons provides a unique opportunity to be involved in quick reaction development with opportunities for customer interaction on a team that is focused on developing superior products and cutting-edge technology in support of domestic and international space programs.

Position Responsibilities

• Analyze, design, implement, test, and document software for inclusion in high-profile satellite communications systems

• Work closely with system engineers and project managers to deliver high-quality, reliable systems to the customer

• Help construct unit and system/regression level test cases

• Participate in design/code reviews for project/product initiatives

• Assist in prototype and tool development

Required Qualifications

• Must be a US citizen

• Must have an active DoD Secret clearance or be able to obtain a DoD Secret clearance

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science

• Not less than 5 years of related professional experience

Desired Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL, Ada, C, C++, Java, and/or LabVIEW

• Familiarity with XML, HTML, Tcl, Python, and shell scripting languages

• Experience with Linux and Windows development environments and tools (Eclipse, Visual Studio, etc.)

• Self-motivated and disciplined – able to work with minimal supervision

• Tracking and Data Relay Satellite system

• Basic knowledge of computer networking

• DEC Alphas and OpenVMS

• Wireshark

• Memory and performance profiling

Must be able to obtain, maintain and/or currently possess a security clearance.
