The Role:

We are transforming technology and creating a digital evolution that will empower Centene to better serve our members. The Application Software Engineer is part of the highly visible API team and has the opportunity to work on brand new technologies. 

As Application Software Engineer you will:

• Develop, test, automate, and optimize new or existing applications or services
• Contribute to the maturity and quality of the code base
• Collaborate with other teams to build the next generation products and services using cloud-based technologies and tool
• Learn to work in an Agile and DevOps culture and practice application ownership throughout the entire delivery lifecycle
• Design, build, test and maintain scalable and stable off the shelf application or custom built technology solutions to meet business needs
• Contribute to the entire implementation process for new applications and enhancements to existing applications
• Meet with business partners to understand business needs
• Contribute to overall solution design
• Responsible for build and test of applications
• Conduct root cause analysis and complex performance tuning
• Responsible for ensuring solution meets business need

Additionally you will bring:

•            Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, related field or equivalent experience.

•            2+ years of related experience.

•            Understanding of Agile methodology.

•            Background, exposure, or familiarity with one or more technical skills:

• (Preferred) Go, Python, Java, C#, and Object-Oriented Design Principles

• Typescript/JavaScript, Angular, React, Vue, C/C++
• Databases in general (MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.)
• (Optional) Containers, Docker, Kubernetes

•            Self-motivated learner and driven to explore new skills and live curiously

•            Comfortable with challenges and fast-paced changes

•            Able to work in team settings with inclusion and diversity of thought

•            Healthcare experience a plus.
