Software Development Manager
– Linux

This is an unique opportunity to step into managing, mentoring using your hands on experience in the Linux ecosystem.
As the manager over our Linux Kernel and Virtualization Development Software Engineering team
– take responsibility for leading and mentoring a team of developers.
This team designs, implements, and tests Linux Operating Systems features to support AMD CPUs.
We deliver responsive and efficient solutions in order to bring exciting, new AMD processors to market with virtualization solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Lead an engineering team including guidance in the area of Linux kernel and KVM/QEMU virtualization development, goal setting and conducting annual performance evaluations Collaborate closely with Linux developers to drive improvements and enhancements in Linux kernel features, track and fix bugs, and test drivers to be aligned with key results Provide some technical mentorship to engineers Understand and present technical status updates to upper managers, peers, and engineer teams Give innovative technical insight to build priorities and craft right actions
Preferred Experience
A minimum of 8 years of experience in as a software developer in OS kernel development or related development in Linux ecosystem Deep understanding of operating systems concepts, data structures, x86-64 architecture, and virtualization Strong organization and communication skills with a proven track record of project delivery Knowledge of software engineering practices for the full life cycle of software development, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations Solid understanding and experience with Linux
– including the system call interface, kernel code, architecture-dependent code, and related upstream development workflow Experience with open source Linux development, building and submitting patches for LKML, and working with external software partners Some experience as a technical lead or people manager
Academic Credentials
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or other relevant field; Master’s Degree preferred
