Senior Unix System Administrator- Automation with Security Clearance

The Senior Unix System Administrator- Automation shall provide expertise to facilitate integrating, developing, migrating, and testing mission applications/services in the Capabilities Integration Environment (CIE) and other development/testing facilities. The ideal candidate will be able to apply expertise necessary to support application/service developers among a variety of Air Force mission applications. This individual will automate tasks within the CIE and across the mission application/services being supported. While most of this effort will be to support systems within the CIE, it may also require supporting applications/services being developed or maintained in other locations, such as commercial and government cloud computing providers. This position will actively support the day-to-day technical operation of the CIE, including installation, configuration, and operation of computer servers, communications networking equipment, and storage devices provided by the Government used to support testing, performance engineering, development, and integration under this task order. Additionally, this individual shall migrate, integrate, test, develop, configure, install, operate, and maintain customer-supported AIS’s in the CIE’s and cloud providers’ various zones, as required. Responsibilities of the Senior Unix System Administrator- Automation include: * Design, develop and deploy automation solutions that act as force multiplier to increase efficiency, eliminate human error, and strive to reduce the number of repetitive tasks presently accomplished manually. * Develop and design solutions (physical and logical) that follow best engineering practices. * Perform (advanced level) configuration, testing, and troubleshooting of Windows, Unix, and Linux environments. * Perform the role of system administration for Windows, Unix, and Linux, and Virtualization platforms. * Provide input, solutions and interpretation of customer related requirements, issues, and concerns with regards to assigned systems and applications. * Create and maintain documentation to support the testing, installation, operations and maintenance of assigned systems and applications. * Provide server installation, maintenance, and patching. * Provide COTS product installation and support. * Providing guidance to junior engineers and engineers new to the CIE. * Occasional after-hours support. Required Skills and Experience: * Clearance Required: Active DoD SECRET Clearance * CompTIA Security+ CE certification * Senior Level or Equivalent professional experience * 5 years of experience with Puppet to include installation, updating/upgrading and building/scheduling/executing modules and scripts that automate patching and general system administration tasks for Solaris and/or RHEL-based operating systems * 5 years of Solaris and/or RHEL systems administration * Knowledge of TCP/IP networking protocols, configuration of network services and installation of COTS products on Solaris and/or RHEL * Experience working with VMs in virtualized environments * Strong analytical and/or troubleshooting skills * Effective communicator both oral / written * Strong team player, shares knowledge * Should demonstrate drive, initiative, and take ownership of tasks Desired Qualifications: * Virtualization experience on Oracle SPARC (containers/LDOMs/PDOMs) and x86 (VMware ESX virtual machines) * Windows Server 2012/2016/2019 experience * Experience with DISA STIG scanning, reporting and remediation * OS certifications for Solaris, RHEL and/or Windows * Knowledge of alternative automation systems such as Ansible, Chef, SCCM, etc. * Knowledge of software development principles and design patterns * Knowledge of operating and maintaining a Cloud infrastructure Vaccination is a requirement of the position per Executive Order 14042.
