Senior Software Systems Requirements Engineer

Senior Software Systems (Requirements) Engineer – Heart Failure Therapy Atlanta, GA or Burlington, MA As a high-caliber Product development Senior Software System Engineer, you will work on the next generation CardioMEMS Heart Failure (HF)Therapy System to understand the dependencies of the software and hardware and then break it down.

Our CardioMEMS HF System (CMEMS) prevents heart failure hospitalizations by Remotely Monitoring Pulmonary Artery Pressure , thereby lowering mortality rates and improving the quality of life of our patients.

In this critical role, you will enhance product development efforts by performing software systems engineering tasks such as investigating, designing/defining, analyzing and documenting requirements, design, algorithms and software behavior.

You will perform analysis and/or interviews to determine the requirements and constraints of the software systems working along slide the cross functional team.

In addition, you will link requirements and support software risk analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities: Work closely with cross functional teams to understand the software’s role in the success of current and future projects.

Contribute to all phases of product development including project definition/scoping, planning, design, and implementation.

Provide leadership to drive technical alignment between the software team and other sub-teams (Firmware Application, DevOps, Electrical Engineering, System Engineering, Software Verification, and Manufacturing) by analyzing the interaction of the software system with other software systems/external actors.

Lead requirements definition of a large portion of the software and drives them to on-time, high quality completion, while regularly interfacing with cross functional teams to obtain alignment on software requirements.

Gather and analyze requirements for medical devices, supporting instrumentation/service infrastructure, and translate these into specific software requirements/interface specifications.

Participate in broad cross functional review of work output.

Investigate and define systems engineering requirements for new algorithms or features and facilitate the transition of algorithms into new projects through clinical review and evaluation.

Create, update and maintain feature specifications, Use cases for multiple ongoing projects, ensuring that software requirements are unambiguous, testable and traceable.

Mentor & coach junior engineers on requirements analysis, requirements definition, software process and medical device regulations.

Organize the structure of the software requirements of the next generation medical device.

Provide proposal of work breakdown structure.

Develop repeatable and successful approaches to analyzing, eliciting, defining, and reviewing software requirements.

Perform Unit Acceptance Reviews to ensure compliance with 62304.

Provide regular status of deliverables.

Identifies and resolves issues, escalating as appropriate.

Support all Company initiatives as identified by management and in support of Quality Management Systems (QMS), Environmental Management Systems (EMS), and other regulatory requirements.

Perform other related duties and responsibilities, on occasion, as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in CS, Biomedical Engineering, Systems Engineering, EE, or related field.

Experience with architecting embedded medical devices for RTOS and/or Embedded Linux systems.

5 years of requirements analysis, Systems engineering experience for Mobile, Web application or embedded devices.

Experience with documenting software architectures and designs including UML diagrams.

Ability to capture and analyze internal and external customer’s needs, to understand design and solution towards solutions.

Ability to communicate technical solutions and issues clearly and adequately to management as well as members on the project.

Ability to Elicit software requirements, understand the cross
– component interdependencies and create use case specifications.

Experience in working in an iterative (Scrum, Kanban) development process.

Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization.

Multitasks, prioritizes, and meets deadlines in timely manner.

Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail.

Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment.

Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.

Preferred Qualifications / Education Master’s degree in related field (education may substitute for some years of experience) Experience in implanted medical devices Ability to lead and manage a team from multiple sites to work cohesively.

Ability to identify initiatives for process improvement.

Experience in additional programming languages such as C, C++, Java and Python.

Knowledge of hardware breadboards and PC hardware system interfaces and embedded systems.
