VMware Tanzu
Based on the open source Cloud Foundry project, VMware Tanzu Application Service (or TAS) is a cloud platform that enables application developers to build and run their applications quickly, easily, and repeatedly.
It manages containerization, traffic routing, logging, metrics, and build workflows, so that engineers can focus on what matters most to them –
– solving problems for their customers.
Our team is responsible for improving the platform teams’ experience in TAS.
We release TAS products with new features while providing support and helpful tools.
We aim to improve the experience of the Platform teams by providing and maintaining helpful tools.
We work closely with our Product Management organization to develop our roadmap in a collaborative manner.
Our team’s philosophy has roots in XP values and agile concepts like feedback, communication, empathy, and shared understanding.
We also continually experiment with emerging practices in the software industry.
We are currently experimenting with Shape Up to empower smaller teams to work on clearly defined work.
We also practice pair programming, retrospectives, and continuous learning to improve the quality of the software we deliver while also making our processes better.
We value working at a sustainable pace and stick to a 8-hour-a-day schedule.
We strive to make our team a psychologically healthy and calm place to work and collaborate.
We have an on-call rotation, but if you’re answering pages after hours or releasing a high-severity security fix, you’ll get to take some extra time off in return.
We’re a collaborative bunch; from pairing to 1-on-1 time with your manager, there is always a teammate there to lend a helping hand.
Mentorship from senior engineers is built right into our process.
The team is currently distributed across our offices in Austin, San Francisco, Santa Monica, Denver, and remote home offices.
We’re flexible on locations and schedules, but given our collaborative approach to working, we prefer candidates whose schedule overlaps considerably with those of their teammates.
We’re looking for engineers who are excited to experiment, solve problems, troubleshoot complex distributed systems, and love to improve processes by employing systems thinking.
