The Leonardo DRS Land Systems business is a recognized leader in the design and integration of complex technologies into new and legacy systems and platforms for global military and commercial customers.
DRS Sustainment Systems Inc. is seeking to hire a Full Time Senior Software Engineer. The ideal candidate will provide technical and analytical work, develop, design and/or support software solutions across multiple U.S. defense industries. Duties include participating in the full software development life cycle (SDLC). The selected candidate will work with other engineering disciplines and use their SDLC expertise to create robust technical solutions across multiple technology areas.
- Ability to complete a technical project independently
- Review customer specifications and requirements and develop designs to best support them
- Develop, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystems
- Provide budget, cost and schedule input for design assignments
- Develop, document and support products, systems, subsystems, or services including specification, evaluation and testing
- Apply fundamental knowledge of software engineering principles and core concepts to create software solutions that meet project-based needs
- Apply Software engineering concepts in the development, testing and documentation of software units
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical field with a minimum of 4 years of experience
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US government security clearance
- Proven Computer Science fundamentals in embedded development, algorithm design, problem solving and complexity analysis
- 4+ years of industry experience in delivering high quality, innovative applications and programming experience in Java ( this may include a blend of real-world work experience, and independent work knowledge)
- Knowledge of professional software engineering practices for the full SDLC, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, and testing
- Excellent verbal and written communications
- Detail oriented, organized, and able to work well in a team environment as well as independently with little day-to-day guidance
- Willing to travel up to 10% as necessary
- Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior management to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Basic knowledge of network communications
- Experience with Windows applications running as services
