Job Description General Position Summary The Sr.
Manager of Endpoint Engineering is responsible for developing desktop and mobility management strategies, and for the design, maintenance, and management of Optum desktop systems and all applications installed on them.
This position will ensure that all applications available to business units are consistent with the goals and strategies of Optum and appropriate to its needs with a focus on asset management, software distribution, license compliance, software packaging, patch management, systems integration and application support.
The Sr.
Manager of Endpoint Engineering will collaborate with other members of IT and the business to provide a consistent, robust and scalable desktop environment that balances ease of use with overall security and compliance requirements.
This position is responsible for the daily oversight of staff, including the hiring of personnel, conducting performance appraisals, and overseeing the daily operations of all Optum end user device standards and platforms.
Essential FunctionsResponsibilities Manages the strategic design and architecture of Optumrsquos endpoint platforms, including the endpoint aspects of all remote access systems as well as mobile.
Manages and maintains said environment to keep it current and optimal.
Provides guidance on best practices, innovative solutions, and process improvements as it relates to management and application delivery across our endpoint infrastructure.
Develops technical standards and ensures compliance with existing standards.
Oversees and participates in project plan design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of Windows environments.
Ensures that all systems meet performance standards and that production support services are consistent with service level agreements.
Produces monthly status and KPI reports.
Consults with and advises both peers and superiors of Optums technology needs to support its Endpoint environments.
Recommends investments to management and clients based on results of assessment of current and future performance, stability, and systems managementlife cycle issues.
Maintains documentation for all aspects of the endpoint environment and the supporting systems used for its management.
Works in conjunction with other IT managers and key business contracts for system issues, planning, and development.
Oversees and provides third level client support deploys applications manages workstations using enterprise management tools.
Performs other related duties as assigned Secondary Functions Participation in the overall IT org planning in collaboration with other process and tool supervisors and managers, subject matter experts and senior leaders when necessary.
Job Scope The Sr.
Manager of Endpoint Engineering will oversee the architecture, engineering, and administrative functions related to Endpoint Management across the Optum organization.
The role should promote operational, innovation, and engineering excellence in delivery Endpoint services to the business through effective management efforts.
Supervisory Responsibility This role will supervise architects, engineers, and administrators.
Specific Job Skills and Experience Bachelor’s Degree or nine years of equivalent work experience.
Seven years and expert level demonstrated experience managing and supporting teams with Windows OS and macOS architectures, user support requirements and centralized management of related endpoints at enterprise scale (over 5,000 units).
Experience managing endpoint environments using Microsoft and macOS technologies including user and computer management, software updates, application installations and environment monitoring.
Passionate about delivering exceptional client experience and tier three support.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, at the executive level Able to work independently in a fast-paced environment with ability to change priorities on the fly.
Adheres to department and IT protocols, procedures and service level agreements.
Strong diagnostic and root cause analysis skills Delivery experience working within the ITIL Framework for Incident, Problem, Change, or Service Request Management.
Superior writing and communication skills, must be able to interact with other teams with confidence.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Mentor team and help other team members to bring them up-to-the speed.
Experience assessing and re-engineering technology solutions and operational procedures, developing policy recommendations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to details.
Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Technical Skills Significant technical background and hands-on experience with Windows and macOS desktop engineering and centralized support and management across an enterprise environment.
Significant technical background and hands-on experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure including assessments of alternate technologies and standing up new Enterprise environments Background and demonstrated experience in automating Windows and Mac OS application deployments.
Experience with Windows Active Directory and its role within both Windows and macOS endpoint deployments Experience with MS Azure, Windows 10 deploymentmanagement, Modern Desktop, Intune etc.
Strong understanding and previous experience with enterprise deployment and management systems (SCCM, Group Policy Objects, JAMF) and enterprise security software (antivirus, DLP and host based firewalls).
Knowledge of TCPIP protocol, routing and security concepts, and troubleshooting endpoint issues within a complex enterprise network.
Job Conditions Job requires hours that may occasionally exceed 8 hours per day or 40 hours per week and includes some non-traditional work hours especially during times of peak activity Have the ability and desire to travel up to 20 of the time
