In this vital role you will The position will work as part of a cross-functional product team with includes data engineers and software developers.

The mission of the Enterprise Data Science Platform product team is to provide infrastructure and technical support to various data science teams within Amgen.

EEA services include Advanced Analytics and Data Integration, Big Data Technology services, Information Discovery and Search, Information Architecture, Knowledge Management (KM), Cloud and DevOps Engineering, and Data Science.

  • Work as a member of the Data Engineering team that uses Cloud and Data Science technologies to design, develop and implement solutions to enable Data Scientists and Data Analysts across Amgen
  • Development of platforms capable of enabling data science, machine learning, predictive modeling and artificial intelligence capabilities across Amgen
  • Work closely with the Data Science delivery and platform teams to ensure that the applications are aligned with the overall architectural and development guidelines
  • Research and evaluate technical solutions including AWS Services, NoSQL databases, Data Science packages, platforms and tools with a focus on enterprise deployment capabilities like security, scalability, reliability, maintainability, etc
  • Procure, install & develop machine learning infrastructure that will be used by Amgen data science teams for developing, evaluating, and deploying machine learning models
  • Providing technical support to data science teams on best practices for developing efficient machine learning models

Basic Qualifications

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other quantitative field
  • 3+ years of experience shipping successful industrial strength products and/or services to customers using a SDLC process from start to finish
  • 3+ years of programming experience with one or more general purpose programming languages, including but not limited to: Java, C, C++, C#, Swift/Objective C, Python, Go, or JavaScript.
  • 1+ years of experience working on Cloud technologies (AWS preferred), and concepts (Containers or Serverless) and solid understanding of AWS technologies such as EMR, S3, EC2 and Redshift.
  • Experience with Data Science Technologies (R, Python, SAS) and concepts (Predictive analytics, Regression, etc)
  • Experience working with Unix-like systems
  • Doctorate degree

OR

  • Master’s degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience

OR

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience

OR

  • Associate degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience

Or

  • High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Databricks, EKS, Gitlab CI/CD is a plus
  • Background in machine learning frameworks, data modeling, object-oriented programming and/or functional programming
  • Understanding of at least one RDBMS (Postgres, MySQL, MSSQL, Oracle, etc.)
  • Experience working with various IT development techniques like Agile and DevOps
