Senior Director, Software Engineering – Data Platforms

As the leader of Enterprise Data & Analytics you will focus on one of the most important parts of Indeed’s business!

Your teams will be responsible for effectively and efficiently managing petabytes of data and solving for needs from multiple stakeholders.

You will lead a talented, and diverse technical team of Data Engineers, Data Scientists, Analysts.

You will motivate this group to deliver ambitious business results.

You will manage multiple Directors and Senior Managers who will seek inspiration in your vision, and follow your strategy.

You will be responsible for growing the team through great hiring and mentorship.

Collaboration will be key; with experienced partners across many functions. 

On a day-to-day basis, your and your organization’s core activities will touch the areas below:

• Data engineering and data warehouse: This will include deep partnership with the product and other functions across the organization and will require an in-depth understanding of the tools and services available in the market to scale data platforms effectively and efficiently

• Business Analytics: You and your team will be responsible for enabling other teams e.g., Sales, CS, Product, Marketing teams to drive utilization of data and analytics to drive critical business decisions.

• Data Science and Modeling: You and your team will partner with the data science team to develop the most efficient way to drive customer value through predictive modeling.

Your team will build the machine learning, experimentation and human labeling platforms that power machine learning and AI across the company.

• Data Privacy and Governance: Your goal will be to scale our business and get the most value from our data while making sure we are always doing it in the most ethical fashion.

Keeping user’s data private is a core ethos at Indeed and you will work with other stakeholders to accomplish the data privacy and security goals 

• Cloud Transformation: Evolving Indeed’s data strategy, including public cloud offerings, will be a focal point of this role.

You will be instrumental in creating a compelling vision of the future state, evaluating on-premise and cloud alternatives, making buy versus build decisions, and working with the team to execute on the vision.

Qualifications:

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science or related technical field, advanced degrees including MA/MS, PhD or MBA a plus

• 10+ years of progressive experience in data engineering or related discipline in the technology sector

• Experience must include large scale data platform and infrastructure management.

Experience with public cloud providers such as Google (GCP) and Amazon (AWS) is a plus.

• Outstanding data analysis skills

• Proven leadership skills

• Experience leading a geographically distributed software engineering organization comprising multiple teams

• Strong technical background that allows you to advocate for and support your engineers

• Can build strong partnerships with other job functions, like product, sales, marketing, UX etc.

to keep teams collaborating smoothly and working together to improve the product

• Strong desire to understand the root cause and details of systems, get hands-on with data and analysis to evaluate how the team and the product are growing.

• Experience with service-oriented and event-driven system architectures, building high-performance distributed systems
