Senior Cloud Engineer

Job Description

USBank is looking for a Cloud Engineer to support and deliver strategic initiatives supporting global USBank needs.

This position will be responsible for the analysis, design, testing, development, and maintenance of best-in-class software experiences.

This individual should be highly motivated with excellent analysis, execution, collaboration, and communication skills.

The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of cloud computing, storage and technology systems and applying these in building solutions to solve complex business needs, as well as experience designing and migrating applications to the cloud.

The candidate will be adept with the agile software development lifecycle and DevOps principles.

Responsibilities:
Responsible for designing, developing, testing, operating, and maintaining products.
Lead and implement cloud system architectures to support the ongoing cloud transformation of USBank’s business.
Provide cloud guidance and architectural oversight during project definition and design and ensure that the solution is aligned to the cloud strategy and architecture.
Provide strategic recommendations for cloud design, infrastructure design, software development design/architecture, application frameworks, and/or interfaces.
Accountable for ensuring all aspects of product development follow compliance and security standards and best practices.
Drive cloud security and compliance requirements into the cloud architecture framework, including for the data integration points with on-premise and other cloud systems.
Present technical concepts and specific solutions to internal and external audiences of varying technical capabilities in a clear, concise, and easily understood manner.
Define and document the cloud reference architecture and drive its implementation across all the cloud components.
Be the champion and the advocate of adopting the best architecture and design practices and ensure USBank cloud projects are built consistently aligned to the expressed cloud architecture.
Evaluate current technologies, concepts, designs, and provide new recommendations.
Provide guidance on Cloud Storage design, Backup and Recovery, and Cross region availability.
Work with Cloud Storage technology partners on data migration and cloud adoption for their platforms.
Basic Qualifications

– Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
-At least 10 years experience with developing and implementing applications.
-At least 7 years experience with the concepts, philosophies and tools behind the design of applications, information and underlying information technologies.

Preferred Skills/Experience
Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
8+ years of architecture experience, with 4+ of those years specifically focused on enterprise cloud implementations.
A strong background in scripting and programming languages including
– Terraform , Ansible ( for creating and running playbooks), Groovy (Jenkins Pipeline), Python, Git.

Domain expertise, including hands-on experience, with the full range of cloud services from one or more public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Working experience developing solutions with cloud orchestration tools.
Demonstrated experience architecting and deploying secure and privacy policy compliant enterprise class cloud services.
Demonstrated experience leveraging open-source projects to accelerate the development of cloud services.
Networking Background and understanding of IP addressing and routing principles within cloud and hybrid environments; hybrid DNS design; cloud firewall and network security tools.

Experience evaluating existing application design and making recommendations for enhancing applications to leverage cloud technology and services.
Working experience with modern development and delivery methodologies such as Agile and CI/CD and ability to apply these processes.
Strong aptitude for collaboration and ability to lead, influence and mentor a team of engineers.
Experience in automation and cloud processes.
Considers scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs.
Able to communicate processes and results with all parties involved in the product team, including engineers, product owner, scrum master, third party vendors and customers
