We are looking for an experienced Security Network Engineer to join our team!

Job Description:

The Security Engineer is responsible for technology evaluation, equipment standardization, documentation, security architecture for Ritter’s equipment and services across the service provider network. The role will require a general understanding of Voice, Video, Data, and Internet service offerings by Ritter Communications.

Essential Job Functions

General:

  • Responsible for working with vendors and internal groups to develop and maintain best security practices for the Ritter service provider network, which include DCN, DDOS platforms, internal services, and external services;
  • Perform security reviews and tests, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan
  • Generates quote requests, orders, RFPs, and negotiates directly with vendors;
  • Prepares project budgets and manages capital and operating expenses on engineering projects; provide regular reporting and forecasting related to project budgets;
  • Participates in inter-departmental planning meetings to coordinate and communicate activities related to the successful completion of projects;
  • Works closely with other engineering teams, network and field technicians, product development and OSS teams to support networks security aspects of network and/or service architectures.
  • Works closely with Product Marketing to ensure successful delivery of all technical components of new services and service enhancements;
  • Works closely with NOC and field personnel to develop handoff documentation and training packages to ensure new technologies and services are supportable by the operations group;
  • Runs technology and service trials;
  • Travels to project sites and job areas as required;
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Network & Services Architecture Director;

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient with Firewalls and Routing in a service provider environment(Preferably Cisco, Palo Alto);
  • Proficient in the configuration and management of IDS/IPS systems;
  • Configuration of routing protocols like OSPF, IS-IS, and BGP in support of Security Policies;
  • Configuration of HSRP, VRRP & GLBP protocols;
  • Establishing and maintaining both User and Site-to-site VPNs;
  • Opening Ports on firewalls for inside, outside & DMZ zones;
  • Knowledge of DDOS identification and prevention within a service provider network;
  • Knowledge of firewalls within various operating systems, such as Windows, Linux, and Unix;
  • Knowledge of modern service provider data networks, technologies and protocols;
  • Knowledge of network system design, development methods, and techniques;
  • Knowledge of network management practices and procedures;
  • Knowledge and the ability to design Layers 1, 2, and 3 of the OSI model;
  • Skill in operating various office equipment such as personal computer, various software programs including Microsoft Office applications(Excel, Outlook, Visio);
  • Skill in problem identification and resolution;
  • Skill in oral and written communication;
  • Skill in reading and interpreting technical documents such as vendor deployment guidelines, white papers and configuration manuals;
  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and various business contacts in a professional and courteous manner;
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple work assignments;
  • Ability to pay close attention to detail;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to make sound decisions using information at hand;
  • Ability to work in a team environment;

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Networking, Cybersecurity or a related field plus three years of telecommunications technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
