Job CategoryProducts and Technology Job DetailsTableau is making big investments to bring the world’s leading analytics planform to some of the largest customers in the world.The Managed Data Security and Governance team’s mission is to ensure customers have a simple yet powerful experience to author data security policies and enforce data governance.Tableau is looking for an experienced and committed software engineering leader who would lead and deliver our state-of-the-art Managed Data Security and Governance services.Who you are:The successful candidate will be an experienced technical leader with experience building platforms for enterprise customers with on prem and cloud deployments.

You will have experience scaling organizations in a fast, changing, and complex environment.From a leadership perspective you should be comfortable guiding an organization through change and driving a technical vision.From a strategic perspective, you should be excited to partner with your product colleagues and organizational leaders to deliver the best outcome for customers.From a coaching perspective, you should be comfortable rolling up your sleeves working with all levels of management and engineers providing guidance and mentorship.Strong communication skills are required.Your Role:
· Champion and evangelize the architectural vision for an organization driving technical delivery in an incremental fashion
· Grow, scale and lead a high performing engineering organization
· Maintain high delivery and standards bar and reward excellence
· Drive operational rigor, apply best practices and processes through rapid organizational growth
· Drive the engineering culture so every team member deeply cares about team velocity, quality, trust, recruiting, and delighting our customers
· Drive the technical culture so every team member obsesses about scale, performance, security, APIs and ease of use
· Foster strong collaboration between globally distributed team members
· Drive vision, product roadmap, and strategy for Managed Data Services and Governance.

Define and deliver per the vision and strategy
· Build and manage cross-functional relationships with Executive Leaders, Product Managers and Software Engineers to understand their needs and deliver on those needs across Tableau and Salesforce to deliver data products
· Define the processes and measures needed to achieve operational excellence in all areas, including project management and service reliabilityYour experience:
· BS/MS degree, or equivalent, in Computer Science, Business Information Systems, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

(Graduate Degree in Computer Science or related field is a plus)
· 12+ years of Software Engineering and Product Development.

Plus experience in cloud data systems such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS)
· Experience scaling and managing 20+ person teams
· History of strong leadership to drive recruiting, building and growing engineering organizations at scale with people in different physical locations
· Strong technical background that includes cloud technology, platforms and user-facing applications
· Ability to formulate and articulate strategy/vision and effectively drive consensus across the organization
· Excellent technical communications skills at all levels of the organization including both technical and non-technical individuals
· Strong organizational judgment and problem-solving
· Developed collaborative interpersonal communication skills, including verbal, written and listening communications
· Experience in shipping software or enabling others to ship software products that have high performance, scalability and that are designed with testability in mind
· Ability to work under tight deadlines while being flexible and responding to changing business and technical conditions
· Experience with at least one of these programming languages (C++, Java, Scala), web front-end libraries (Typescript, React)
· Experience with version control systems (Github, Subversion, Perforce) and deployment & CI tools
· Familiarity with business intelligence tools (such as Tableau, Einstein Analytics, Power BI, Qlik).

· Experience with DevOps practices, developer acceleration and experiences from a platform builder point of view, Terraform, Operational Monitoring tools and platforms (Datadog, New Relic, etc.) and Kubernetes are a definite plus
· Hands-on of Tableau products’ knowledge and functionalities a definite plus
· Understanding of data governance practices such as privacy engineering, privacy compliance, metadata management, data lineage, and data glossaries a huge plus.
