This open Programmer Analyst position from Robert Half Technology is for a Aerospace company in need of someone with a grasp on software and applications programming and industry requirements who can establish and define systems scope and objectives. You would provide guidance on developing or altering applications or databases, employing research and fact-finding techniques. Your responsibilities

– Reviews methods of processing and recommends improvements

– Examines user requests for changes or improvements to systems. Writes functional requirements and assesses cost, feasibility and utility. Makes recommendations about how, when or whether to make the changes

– Supports end users and other partner groups, providing ongoing training and assistance for a particular application, system or process

– Aids in creating communication materials for certain system changes being implemented in production

– Create and test programming changes for every systems development phase prior to implementation. Write test cases and expected outcomes. Review results and verify that requirements are met. May develop simple tests or a defined subset of larger tests. May recommend acceptance/rejection if requirements are not all met

– Serves as the in-house guide for internal clients experiencing programming problems, consulting on applications, systems and/or processes for identifying and resolving, processing/reporting the issues. Consultation can include troubleshooting and/or education

– Builds dictionaries for applications and systems support by the analyst, and ensures they are up to date

– Reviews and documents code problems, working with other programmers to correct them

Job Requirements:
– 5+ years experience as a project leader for the business portion of developmental applications or major systems improvements

– Strong communication and social skills

– Strong project planning and management tasks, business systems support functions and project costing techniques

– Demonstrated grasp of programming languages

– .NET experience required

– Solid understanding of Baan

– Proficiency in PC and mainframe hardware/software
