Who we’re looking for:
Provides technical expertise usually as a member of a project team, in the analysis, design and development of business applications. Applies broad knowledge of various technical functions to develop requirements and specifications for new and existing application systems; accurately anticipates organizational impact, understands the procedures and expected system performance associated with the introduction of new technologies; and seeks ways to collaborate with other IS colleagues to facilitate systems integration and transitions. Projects are of significant complexity and require considerable experience in managing/leading large-scale development efforts. Oversees technical development or enhancement projects from concept to implementation using solutions in a multi-platform environment, including object- oriented applications, languages and third party tools, client server based tools and comparable applications. May have responsibility for all technical phases of a project and regularly audits the progress of less experienced team members. Leads junior team members by providing direction on the development and maintenance of new or existing business systems.
What you’ll do:
- Works with IS colleagues and project sponsors/customers to determine the long-term application architecture and strategy.
- Oversees major applications integration efforts, this includes but is not limited to: designs, codes, tests, installs and supports complex, integrated applications systems; guides the customization, implementation and support of purchased package applications.
- Analyzes and provides technical advice and direction with regarding the interface/integrate of supported systems with the rest of the application portfolio; analyzes how the supported applications can best serve business functions; recognizes the impact to the business of proposed applications changes and advises IS colleagues accordingly. Serves as the primary on-call support person; troubleshoots and performs, directs and/or facilitates the action steps required to resolve complex cross application problems/abends.
- Interacts with customers, Business Process Specialist and vendors to quantify system requirements, and coordinate system and integration testing, migration and roll-out; Identifies, evaluates and recommends alternative technical solutions for best fit to business, oversees the initial pilot and recommends guidelines and standards for use.
- Develops, documents and maintains best practices, project standards, procedures, application, quality objectives and “lessons learned”, including metrics for assessing progress; ensures that applications systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices.
- Serves as Project Manager or participates on project teams serving as an IT technical expert on strategic long-range and highly complex projects that span the organization, crossing business unit boundaries; as a project manager will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of assigned project team to meet project milestones; Proactively reviews and interprets performance against operating plans and standards; provides information and reports to subordinates on interpretation of results and approves changes in plans; presents reports on project performance, changes, enhancements, scope variations, and other related matters and/or participates in key management activities and committees advising project sponsors or senior management accordingly

What you need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with an information technology focus.
- 5+ yeasrs job specific work experience with demonstrated projessional growth and achievement. Expereicne must include:
- Applicaiton development using the RPG Free language including experience working with IBM iSeries architecture
- Integration wiht 3rd party systems via API’s using XML and JSON
- Experience with 3rd party packages including TL Ashford, Peoplenet, Ortec and McLeod is a plus

Working knowledge of warehousing and shipping processes including receiving, put away, picking, shipping and bill-of-lading generation

Experience with eCommerce shipping, shipping label and packing list creation is preferred

Demonstrated experience and understanding of system development life cycle, dynamics of applications development projects, Information Technology practices and methods

Demonstrated experience and broad knowledge of the principles, techniques and methodology of project management, quality management, and change management. Experience organizing, planning, and executing projects from vision through implementation, involving internal personnel, contractors, and vendors; ability to analyze project and determine resources needed to meet objectives.
