Principal Software Engineer

The ideal candidate leads/mentors an engineering team and serves as technical expert responsible for a product line or technical discipline.

Responsibilities Provide technical leadership for product line and technical discipline.

Considered to be the resident technical expert in systems/software.

Support project planning, including conceptual designs, cost estimates, and scheduling Responsible for requirements and concept definition, system architecture, design implementation and verification Provide technical guidance for engineering personnel across the engineering team Support operations and manufacturing Qualifications BS Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent degree) required At least 7 years’ experience managing the software development life cycle from requirements analysis through final testing At least 7 years’ in hands-on engineering or development of full stack software solutions Strong working knowledge of software development using C/C++ Experience in working in a collaborative software development environment Experience in the development and manufacture of embedded systems Familiarity with CAN bus and J1939 protocols Ability to work in all phases of engineering product lifecycle (advanced development, productization, manufacturing/launch, and maintenance) Leadership skills and experience are required Experience working in heavy duty truck or automotive industry is a plus
