What You Will Deliver
Invent concepts and identify design limits for new stereo endoscope architectures including ultra-compact form factors, new sensors, and innovative views.
Build preliminary Zemax models to demonstrate feasibility, identify likely trades, and set preliminary requirements.
Work with Mechatronics Engineers and small-camera design/fab firms to rapidly design and prototype.
Respond to fast-breaking requests from our world-class robotics and clinical teams to invent fresh vision architectures to support their rapid exploration of new surgical robotics approaches.
Work with wider Vision team to resolve resulting ISP needs, target enabling new technologies, and model inventive concepts to evaluate first-order trade-offs and feasibility.
Work with Imaging Algorithms group to build end-to-end (endoscope-to-display) image simulator to predict how design innovations and trade-offs will impact surgical image quality; develop metrics and tests to validate.
