PLC PROGRAMMER

Conveyor Handling Company (CHC), one of the nation’s leading material handling systems integrators, is seeking a PLC Programmer/Field Service Controls Engineer to join our team. This is an entry to mid-level position. A background in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, ElectricalEngineering or any other relevant field of study preferred, but can be substituted for relevant/equivalent experience programming PLC’s and commissioning systems. Training will be provided, must be willing to travel. The successful candidate must be/have:

• Ability to take ownership of projects; responsive and flexible to all project requests and reacts to any adjustments promptly and efficiently, effectively prioritizing needs and tasks
• Able to collaborate and work well in teams and with others
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with a strong analytical and technical aptitude

Responsibilities:

• Write PLC programs in ladder logic (Allen-Bradley)
• Develop modular logic blocks following internal coding standards
• Develop HMI interfaces
• Modify existing programs
• Provide technical support and troubleshooting for field issues, working with installation and service department, working along with electricians and other controls engineers
• Travel to customer sites to perform I/O Checkout and field startup
• Perform minor wiring changes
• Participate in design reviews and creating field layout drawings in AutoCAD Electrical
• Maintain records/repository of programs, schematic drawings, and onsite modifications to field layout
• Assist sales/engineering teams in developing and criticizing design elements of a system
• Develop user manuals and provide necessary onsite training to customers
• Position requires travel up to 50-70%

Education & Experience:

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or any other relevant field of study or equivalent experience
• Experience in programming PLC’s using Ladder Logic or experience with programming in any other scripting language (Python, JavaScript, Perl, VBA, etc.)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD desired
• Understanding of electro-mechanical systems, basic manual tools/power tools operation
• Understanding of network topology and communication methods; serial, ethernet, wireless comms.
• Be able to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
