About this role

The Aladdin Product Group is looking for a software engineer with experience in blockchain technology for our Distributed Ledger Technology Development Center.

This is a platform operations role, focusing on distributed ledger technologies and using cloud capabilities within BlackRock’s powerful asset management platform. 

This team will provide operational and engineering support for multiple messaging platforms.

This includes build automation, provisioning, monitoring, and updating infrastructure, as well as the tooling to automate migrations to the cloud and integrate with blockchain networks.

The team will also be responsible for finding opportunities to improve our architecture using cloud-native and blockchain-based technologies.

Security, performance, data privacy, and system resilience are integral to the design and architecture.

Experience implementing enterprise solutions in a commercial context is a strong plus.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Coordinate with product management, product engineering, and business teams to enable successful implementation of distributed ledger solutions within Aladdin
• Design, develop, and operate resilient and scalable distributed systems
• Handle deployment of IaaS components including storage, network, and compute for distributed ledger networks
• Provide guidance and direction into deployment models and associated performance and cost trade-offs
• Lead all aspects of network performance and stability, triage production incidents, and engage with respective partners to optimize services

REQUIREMENTS:

• Degree in computer science or engineering degree 
• Minimum 4 years of professional experience in a software engineering team and minimum 1 year with distributed systems
• Strong technical knowledge of microservices architecture, docker, and cloud technologies
• Familiarity with leading blockchain protocols used in an enterprise context (e.g., Ethereum, Quorum, Corda)
• Experience deploying to and operating commercial clouds; namely Azure, AWS, or GCP
• Familiarity with messaging technologies & platforms such as Apache, Kafka, Axoni, MetaMask, Azure’s Service Bus, Event Grid, Event Hub, IBM MQ, FIX, SWIFT, etc.
• Experience with orchestration and container engines such as Kubernetes and Docker
