Job Description: Designs, plans and builds communications networks. Configures routers and switches, and firewalls for LAN and WAN systems and VPN concentrators with appropriate network engineering and communications protocols. Coordinates LAN/WAN hardware/software improvements and/or enhancements. Monitors the network utilizing industry leading technologies. Provides innovative methods and technical solutions using the engineering design process. Plans implementation of enhancements.
Analyzes customer requirements and provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of moderate complexity.
Performs maintenance and upgrade of networks including servers, routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers remote access systems, and networks.
Maintains network integrity and connectivity while ensuring compliance with policies and maintains system backup and recovery capability.
Coordinates hardware and software acquisition.
Creates plans and configures network systems for data communication networks.
Supports the design and build of hardware and software components for computer or telecommunications networks.
Maintains current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned. Required Skills: Six (6) years of experience in an enterprise LAN/MAN/WAN environment.
Four (4) years of concurrent experience in network administration and analysis.
Experience working with appropriate complex network administration and maintenance.
Experience working with complex system implementations and organizational processes to include maintaining network system documentation.
Experience maintaining the integrity and security of networks and connected systems.
Experience evaluating vendor products and making recommendations to purchase hardware, software, and coordinating installation.
Experience in developing and monitoring policies and standards related to the use of computing resources.
Experience in developing and implementing testing strategies and documenting results Desired Skills: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, information technology or related field
Twelve or more years of business solutions experience
Experience working with company products and services, business processes and re-engineering
Experience working with appropriate programming languages, operating systems, product-line hardware and software **see Technical Experience above
Experience working with office productivity tools; delivery assurance and/or industry standards on deliverables
Experience working with administrative and/or workflow systems Certifincation: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or
Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP)
IAT Level II baseline certification in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M, Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, (or achieve within six months of hiring)Security Clearance: Secret clearance based upon a SSBI or SSBI-PR completed within the past five years.
