Network Engineer I

Queen's Health Systems

This is a Full-time position in Honolulu, HI posted December 11, 2021.

RESPONSIBILITIESI.

JOB SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Diagnoses and troubleshoots issues with network configuration, routers, switches, wireless networks, and other network hardware and software in area(s) assigned at The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS).
• Supports and assists the IT Department in the development of sound practices and solutions for networking issues; may develop and recommend policies and procedures.
• Collects data from network performance and uptime monitoring tool; provides reports to management for information and assessment of network operations.
• Reviews, troubleshoots, and validates potential network issues and capabilities.
• Makes recommendations and offers solutions based on trends to maintain or improve efficient network operations.
• May serve as an escalation point for network related issues.
• Plans and anticipates future business needs with regard to network systems; ensures clear and comprehensive documentation of requirements.
• Monitors, analyzes and leads the planning activities to ensure adequate capacity, availability, and effective use of the latest available technologies.
• Works with Project Management Office (PMO) to coordinate the implementation of related systems/applications as needed.II.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: All required, designated by frequency.
• Continuous: seeing, speaking, repetitive arm/hand motions, sitting, static gripping of an object for prolonged periods.
• Frequent: standing, sitting, walking, finger dexterity, hearing.
• Occasional: stooping/bending, carrying usual weight of 12 pounds, reaching above shoulder level.
• Operates computer equipment and copy machines.III.

TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
• Not substantially subjected to adverse environmental conditions.
• Work schedule includes providing 24 hours/7 days a week support as required.IV.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A.

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:
• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology (IT) field or related field; four (4) years experience managing networks may be substituted for educational requirement.
• In depth understanding of Cisco technologies, MPLS, LAN/WAN design, and protocol analysis highly desirable.
• Certification in one of the following highly preferred:o CCDA: Cisco Certi?ed Design Associateo CCNA: Cisco Certi?ed Network Associateo CCDP: Cisco Certi?ed Design Professionalo CCNP: Cisco Certi?ed Network ProfessionalB.

EXPERIENCE:
• In addition to educational requirement, four (4) years of Cisco networking experience, preferably in healthcare, demonstrating the following:o Expert knowledge of firewall configuration and maintenance.o Technical ability to support a complex, distributed, and mission critical network.o Strong understanding of how networking technologies meet business needs or requirements.Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Vet
