Modis: Principle Network Engineer

We have a senior network engineer role open for a great client in the Boston market.

Job Duties Monitor the network environment using tools such as SolarWinds and NetBrain to identify performance issues, device failures, inefficiencies and other issues bull Work with members of the Network team and other technical groups to troubleshoot and resolve discovered issues bull Create and update network diagrams and clean documentation to improve internal support processes and to support compliance audits etc bull Take on the groups most complex projects and run them from beginning to end attend project meetings, develop plans, design solutions, coordinate with IT and non-IT groups, implement and test designs and create supporting documentation bull Design and implement wireless networks with Meraki Access Points and MX Security Devices using the Meraki cloud interface (MX Security devices, MR Access Points and Z3 Telecommuting devices) bull Rack, stack and cable switches, routers, firewalls and other network devices in branch offices as well as Enterprise Data Center environments bull Design, Implement and tune complex layer2 layer 3 local area networks with multiple VLANs, multiple closets, complex structured cabling and with distribution and access layers bull Hands-on configuration of Cisco routers, switches and ASA Security devices (CLI and ASDM) bull Troubleshoot and remediate LAN, WAN, Data Center and Wireless network issues bull Create and maintain Clientless SSL and AnyConnect VPN connections on Cisco ASA devices bull Work closely with Server and Security teams on projects, to troubleshoot issues and design solutions bull Daily maintenance of the Switching environment Configure Spanning Tree, addremove VLANs, configure Layer 2 and Layer 3 Port Channels, configure static routes, create or modify OSPF, VLAN access control lists etc bull Configure and maintain Adtran WAN routers addmodify static routes, modify OSPF configurations, add BGP network statements, redistribute prefixes between routing protocols, create route-maps bull Data Center network design Nexus 9k configuration, VPC, VLAN design, DMZ design and security, Enterprise Internet routing bull Respond to inquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support bull Troubleshoot issues with network hardware and software applications, telephones and security systems to resolve operational issues and restore services bull Disaster recovery planning and implementation Experienceknowledge of all or most of the following strongly preferred VPN, Firewall, Routing, Switching, Security, Load Balancing.
