Boeing is seeking a motivated and talented Experienced Systems Engineer – Developer/Analyst to join the Missile Defense National Team in Huntsville, Alabama!
The Missiles and Weapons Systems (MWS) organization is a dynamic and growing with a leadership team focused on attracting and developing top talent in support of critical missions for National Defense and Strategic Deterrence. Connected to our customers’ missions, we deliver unique capability through our exceptional talent. The programs that we support in Huntsville, Alabama include Ground-based Midcourse Defense, Next Gen Interceptor, precision-guided munitions, and Integrated Air & Missile Defense products (PAC-3, Avenger, ABMD); National Team, and Strategic Deterrence Systems (which includes Minuteman ICBM support and guidance system repair). The Missile Defense Programs in the Huntsville site include Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC), Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), and Missile Defense National Team – Engineering (MDNT-E). The Missile Defense Programs in the Colorado Springs area include Command and Control Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) and Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD).
Missile Defense programs are part of the Ballistic Missile Defense System which defends the United States homeland and its regional allies all over the world. The Requirements Management Tools Administrator establishes and administers the DOORS process for developing and managing requirements; access control; and configuration control for multiple users of Missile Defense System requirements as depicted in the IBM Rational DOORS database, and their connectivity to the system-level architecture/Use Cases maintained in the IBM Rational System Architect tool.
Primary Responsibilities:
Adhere to the Program Configuration Management Plan for the DOORS and System Architect tools, enabling multiple users to share the Technical Baseline data, while maintaining strict access control and data integrity.
Development or update of schema needed for multiple users, configuration control of requirement/architecture baseline products, generation of reports / artifacts from the tool
Preparation of deliverables to customer, managing user access, conducting user training, documenting/updating process as well as procedural guides & checklists
Supporting engineering design tasks; customizing the tool as needed, executing upgrades, and troubleshooting problems.
Contributes to publishing change notices to the Missile Defense system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and DoDAF 2+ compliant based design packages to document, allocate and trace BMD system and element level requirements.
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree in aTechnical Field (i.e. engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or similar)
1+ years of experience have in data analytics and reporting using DOORS and Systems Engineering Tools
1+ years of experience programming in at least one language
3+ years of in system engineering (e.g. Systems, Design, Architecture, Integration, Requirements or Test)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Experience in analysis or testing with Missile Defense Agency elements such as GMD, THAAD, Aegis, Patriot, JTAGS or others
Ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance or an active Top Secret clearance
Demonstrated experience working within a complex system-of-systems requirements environment for missile defense applications or similar domains (air combat, air defense, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, space vehicles, sub-orbital mechanics, etc.) or other complex Department of Defense programs
Experience with systems engineering design and specification documentation
Experience with IBM Rational System Architect tool or equivalent (No Magic Cameo)
SharePoint Developer experience using Java & HTML
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
