Job DescriptionPerforms a wide range of complex mechanical engineering functions related to the architecture, design, testing, and evaluation of mechanical and electro-mechanical devices for semiconductor test systems. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs and develops engineering prototypes. Serves on product development teams and may provide direction and training to lower-level professional, technical staff, and contractors. May also be called upon to resolve any field issues and provide direction to the field team. Will be assigned responsibility for independent mechanical design projects.Responsibilities include:* Analyzes customer requirements* Identifies risk areas and optimization opportunities.* Develops and implements mechanical engineering designs for new test systems and components.* Develops and implements cooling solutions for electronics in test system.* Presents designs during Customer Design Reviews* Develops test specifications and evaluation protocols and initiates engineering change order requests.* Interprets functional test results and presents findings to senior technical staff.* Works as part of a team that includes manufacturing, quality assurance and technical support organizations to establish functional specifications for components and to select vendors/suppliers for purchased parts, materials and assemblies.* Provides guidance to lower-level staff members in area of technical expertise. Recommends innovations and improved methods, tools and processes.* Participates in the preparation of patent applications and memos of invention for trade secrets.* Acts as customer contact on selective technical matters.* Performs hands-on evaluation of prototype system build/sub-assembly build /thorough product performance assessment.* Perform integration testing and qualificationsRequirements* BS, Mechanical Engineering. MS, Mechanical Engineering is preferred.* Ideal candidates have 7 to 10 years of experience, preferably in semiconductor capital equipment industry or high-technology environment.* Expertise with mechanical chassis, pick and place handlers, handler kits, sockets, and design tradeoffs with respect to the same is required.* Experience in Solidworks simulation and other 3D CAD is a must.* Experience in Thermal simulation and analysis is a strong desire.* Experience in WindChill PLC is desired* Experience working in cross-functional teams that build test systems comprised of electrical and software components is a must.* Must have strong analysis & synthesis capabilities
