Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS), Space and Launch Division’s Orbital Operation and Sustainment (O&S), is seeking a Lead Satellite Platform (BUS) Systems Engineer (Level 4) to support the team at Schriever AFB, Colorado. The Space and Launch Team sustains the next generation products and services for the BDS business unit. Our Engineering team provides military customer support of satellite operations and sustaining systems engineering for the Wideband Global Satellite Communications (WGS) program.
Position Overview:
The Lead Satellite Platform Systems Engineer will be a part of a high-performing team that are immersed in dynamic satellite operations and engineering activities. As a member of our WGS team, you will have the opportunity to lead a small team supporting platform operations and engineering for 10 on-orbit satellites.
Position Responsibilities:
Advise the customers on how to operate and maintain satellites.
Advise the customers on ground command & control system operations.
Participate in technical meetings, author database and software change requests, Perform ground computer system software and database testing.
Author, maintain, review and help execute satellite operations procedures. Configure and run simulations to support procedure validation.
Conduct technical analysis, studies and provide recommendations.
Perform satellite data trending and analysis to determine spacecraft performance.
Perform problem solving and support other engineers in a team environment.
Work Authorization:
This position requires an active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active).
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree in a Technical Field (for example, engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, chemistry, or similar).
5 years or more of experience in Space/Satellite systems.
5 years or more of experience with flight test, flight operations, or system test.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Active Top Secret Security Clearance.
Experience responding to anomalies for on-orbit communications satellites.
Experience working closely with US Military customers in an operational and training environment.
Typical Education/Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD+4 years’ related work experience, Master+7 years’ related work experience). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

This position offers relocation based on candidate eligibility. (Basic relocation is available for internal candidates, based on candidate eligibility.).
