– Remote**Description & Qualifications**DescriptionThe TeamWithin the Transformation Organization, the Business Data & Analytics Operations (BDAO) organization is responsible for an enterprise data strategy, analytics and insights to enable exceptional customer and employee experiences (CX + EX) and steer UKG decisions on growth, retention, and operational agility.BDAO is organized around three key pillars to achieve business objectives:
• Planning & Strategic Analytics: Define organization roadmap priorities, and drive strategic analytics programs from Discovery through Adoption
• Data Strategy: Define and implement ONE end-to-end UKG data strategy, governance and data foundational capabilities
• Data Science & Engineering: Perform advanced data modeling techniques within a robust intelligence environmentEach BDAO pillar participates in a structured operating model to discover, define, pilot, enable and operationalize strategic programs, partnering closely with cross-functional business and IT experts across the full customer journey.The RoleThe primary mission of the Lead Data Scientist role is to help our business evolve into an insights-driven organization using statistical rigor and advanced analytic methodologies.

The position sits in our Business Data & Analytics Operations (BDAO) organization, which is responsible for implementing standards across the organization for data, metrics, and analysis, delivering insights gleaned from data to drive business decisions, and monitoring the impact of those decisions to ensure they are driving the impact needed.

The Lead Data Scientist will develop machine learning and natural language processing models to provide insights and recommendations for internal functional business teams to help them prioritize customer experience improvements, accelerate revenue opportunities, scale internal operational processes, and drive decision making with leaders across UKG.Responsibilities:
• Define data science project objectives, deliverables, success criteria and project plan
• Apply math and statistics background to develop novel algorithms, models, performance measures, and simulations
• Tell stories with analytics and insights, adapting level of detail to the proper audience
• Mentor junior team members on their projects and advise others in the company on data science questions
• Drive the establishment of and team adherence to data science development best practices including version control and repeatable experiments and results
• Drive continuous improvement through measurement and monitoring
• Wrangle and integrate data from various data sources using sound software engineering practice
• Build and operationalize predictive and prescriptive models for a variety of internal stakeholders using both structured and unstructured data sources
• Lead team in support and maintenance of delivered models/solutions in production
• Guide best practices for hypothesis testing, including experimental design and driver analysis
• Apply math and statistics background to develop novel algorithms, models, performance
• Quantify business problems for return-on-investment analyses to aid in the selection and/or prioritization of projects
• Present insights to the stakeholders for large or complex projects and gain business validation and adoption utilizing communications, influencing skills and experience in conveying complex information in easy-to-understand languageSkills/Expertise
• Creative self-starter who can analyze, interpret, derive insights, and communicate those to drive change in business
• Ability to formulate data science solutions to real-world business problems
• Ability to lead the team in developing actionable insights and decision-making supports based on complex or multiple data science/ analytics outputs
• Utilize business knowledge of the organization context and strategies, the data analytics capability and extensive experience in the practical application of outputs/models
• Ability to coordinate the team’s activities in collecting business requirements, establishing the need, scope, goal, key stakeholders, and success criteria
• Proficiency in building data pipelines to feed ML/NLP models
• Demonstrated ability to develop and deploy end-to-end data science applications in a corporate setting using machine learning models and pipelines
• Deep understanding of ML/NLP models and associated mathematics and statistics
• Strong adherence to core software engineering principles (code modularization, versioning, testing etc.)
• Understanding of fundamentals of cloud (GCP, AWS, Azure) technologies
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or similar technologiesQualificationsQualifications
• Experience:o 6+ years providing business insights through data science using languages: Python, R, Scalao 3+ years writing SQLo Proficiency in machine learning frameworks such as scikit-learn, TensorFlow, Kera, H20.ai
