Description: Job Title: Associate, Systems EngineerJob Location: Lynchburg, VAJob Code: CS20211611-72774Job Description:The Systems Engineer designs and implements complex radio systems that satisfy specific customer requirements.

Systems involve Harris and vendor equipment, and typically include RF Base Station & Repeater equipment, microwave links, IP networks, wireless data, RF antenna subsystems, 911 dispatch and/or other custom subsystems.

The successful candidate will implement systems based on proven and approved designs.

The candidate will have proven ability to convert designs to hardware and provide manufacturing level documentation.

The candidate will be responsible for solid, consistent deployments, maintaining high standards of security, availability, and performance for public safety communications systems.

The candidate shall be able to provide leadership to other members of the implementation team and define engineering schedules.The successful candidate will aggressively resolve customer issues, deliver clear and concise statements of work for sub-contractors, and continually improve execution via tollgate processes.

The candidate shall execute implementations utilizing Harris standard operating procedures.

The candidate will work closely with program management to provide early identification and resolution of problem areas on the project.

The candidate shall identify and facilitate activities with vendors, escalation teams, and other teams within Harris.

Responsibilities include:Design, implementing, and support complex IP-Based radio system networksImplementing Information Assurance products for customer Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systemsMaintaining documentation & configuration revision controlFollowing established ISO processes via tollgate systemThe successful candidate will drive improvement in the program implementation process by actively participating in every phase of the design, staging, configuration and implementation of Harris Land Mobile Radio systems, with an emphasis, on streamlining program operations.

The candidate will be involved in technical planning, system integration, functional verification, performance validation, and process improvement vs cost/risk analysis.The candidate will participate in discussions with customers, consultants, vendors and other Harris personnel as necessary to advance projects.

The successful candidate will work early in the contracting process to identify possible issues in the as offered design and offer potential solutions.

Additionally, the candidate may respond to proposal text, and offer material content that effectively describes the system and special equipment being offered.Approximately 50% time will be spent in factory staging and verification and 50% field travel.Qualifications: BSEE, BSCE or similar technical degree with 0-2 years of prior related experience or 2 years post secondary/Associates Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Skills:The Implementation Systems Engineer must have practical hands-on field experience in RF/LMR system design, staging, configuration and implementation of complex radio systems.

Experience in design of IP networks, RF antenna systems, microwave systems, wireless data systems, data networking, as well as system configuration is desired.Able to work within a cross-functional team environment.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written (English).

The successful candidate will possess excellent interpersonal skills and have demonstrated the capacity to effectively foster team building within and beyond his/her work group.
