Maintains the database code environment to insure data integrity for applications, insure database availability, and verify data loads.
This individual will effectively exhibit JD Finish Line’s core values of Customer, People, Winning, Community, and Financial Responsibility in everything they do by performing the following main duties: Performs database performance monitoring and tuning Experience with creating performance baselines Experience with code review for modifications using version control Designs and implements logical and physical databases that are complex in nature Provides operational support for databases Evaluates database technologies and product releases to develop long term strategy for system processing improvements and system compatibility with database platforms.
Designs and implements procedures that ensure the security and integrity of the company database Knowledge in OS like Linux and Windows Knowledge in ansi sql and PL/SQ Understanding of core database architecture and concepts Knowledge of Oracle SQLNet configuration and working knowledge Knowledge of common database concurrency issues and solutions Experience with IaC(Infrastructure as Code) Experience with Python and Java Required Education and/or Experience Total of 3-5 years prior experience as a database developer using pl/sql, tsql, and an application development language.
Experience with multiple database software installations and software patching is required.
Experience as an Application/System DBA supporting third party applications is required.
Skills in ANSI SQL and PL SQL programming are required.Required Computer and/or Technical Skills Windows (Advanced) 3-5 years Linux (Advanced) 3-5 years System Life Cycle Methodology (Intermediate) 3-5 years Change Control (Intermediate) 3-5 years Installation, configuration and upgrading of Database server software and related products Experienced in Database design and implementation Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges) Work as part of a team and provide 24 7 support as needed Perform technical troubleshooting and give consultation to development teams Patch Management and Version Control Perform database tuning and performance improvement Perform application tuning and performance improvement Core Competencies: Communication Skills Must be an effective communicator with internal and external individuals at all levels.This includes spoken, written, electronic, and presentation skills.
Communication should be consistently constructive and professional.
Decision Making and Problem Solving Skills Able to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Able to analyze results at a micro and macro level and present findings and solutions to solve issues.
Makes routine decisions following established policies and procedures and collaborates with the manager to gain assistance when complex issues arise.
