Position Summary:
The role involves full-stack development for both the surface ship side as well as subs.
The code base is a mix of C, C++, and Java.
There are backend processes that also involve SQL and web services.
The product is built and developed in a Linux environment and most work is performed within terminal windows.
All development involves a large legacy code base that requires solid experience to navigate as some aspects utilize older libraries while other areas are made of old auto-generated code.
Participates in developing new applications for the product, maintaining the current code base for multiple baselines, porting functionality from different baselines into newer or sometimes older baselines, testing functionality of new applications and their interaction with the rest of the code base, and testing for and correcting issues found in deliveries.
The role also participates in integration for the surface ship side as well as partial time with subs.
This involves verifying and installing deliveries for the product, testing that the code is functioning properly on the hardware, debugging and correcting system integration/interface issues, and generating documentation/fixes.
This is done by working with the integrators of partner applications, writing and performing string and system testing, and working with the integration site to determine when issues are code or system based.
