General Summary Responsible for researching and designing control systems, programming, documentation, and project managing capital projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Design to Specs Design schematics and write programs to meet specifications.
Research components and integrated equipment.
Participates on cross-functional teams to addressresolve manufacturing, design or quality issues to ensure continuous, on-going improvement of processesmethods.
Performs electrical engineering, hardware design, systems integration, PLC programming, robot programming, HMI configuration, and component specifications of capital projects.
Ensure equipment meets all safety rules, applicable regulations, and relevant OSHA standards.
Design station using the utmost consideration for operator and machine safety.
Program motion devices, cameras, and robots.
Test PlansSetup Plan Create documents to transfer information to Electrical Assembly and Commissioning departments on machine design.
Create testing and run off parameters to verify machine operating as designed.
Manufacturing Instructions Create BOMs from customer requirements.
Ensure accurate part number and quantities.
Program in Ladder Logic the sequence steps using proven recovery methods.
Project Management Lead small projects integrating off-the-shelf components like robotics, visions systems, etc.
into a custom automation solution.
Translates quotes andor customer requirement specifications into automation concepts, conducts concept design reviews, and obtains clear directional agreement with customers.
Provides hands-on debugging leadership, solves complicated automation integration issues, and provides guidance to less experienced team members in debugging activities.
Oversees project milestones and deliverables to ensure customers’ needs are met.
Leads or participates in engineering design reviews as required and requested by management or customers.
Participates on cross-functional teams to address or resolve manufacturing, design, or quality issues to ensure continuous improvement.
Concepts Collaborate with Mechanical Engineering on station flow charts.
Translate flow chart to sequence steps in Controls Document.
Assist in preparing estimates and quotes.
Act as technical electrical controls resourcesupport for company sales staff.
Stay current in new developments within industries served.
Keep informed of new applicationsmethods to improve systemsproducts.
Get Stuff Done Develops and edits PLC programs and provides system hardware recommendations.
Utilizes appropriate PLC and computer softwarehardware information.
Select electrical components that are field tested from partnered vendors.
Support CommissionersService during debug and testing.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Education and ExperienceSkills Required Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or comparable knowledgeexperience required.
Proven strong aptitude with computers and learning new systems.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Preferred experience with Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming.
Preferred experience with AutoCAD.
Preferred experience with an Original Equipment Manufacturer in the Life Sciences industry.
Proven experience working effectively in a team environment.
Requires excellent oral and written communication skills in order to communicate effectively with customers, vendors and employees.
Working knowledge of all MS Office applications.
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, blueprints, etc.
Ability to work with complex mathematical concepts.
Up to 15 travel required.
