Database AdministratorFoley is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join our growing team of experts in delivering unmatched value to our customers. The Database Administrator will work alongside the Development, QA, Operations and Reporting teams to ensure our databases meet the needs of each team including assisting with tuning and troubleshoot database issues.The Database Administrator will be highly involved in planning how our schema evolves and adapts to growing data storage needs and will also be highly focused on storing the data in a secure way.Additionally, this role will work closely with our Cloud Architect and Data Architect personnel to help define and shape our long-term vision for how we store and access our data to meet our customer’s needs.Primary Job Duties & Responsibilities include:• Manage the performance of all SQL database systems (MS SQL Server, MySQL, and PostgreSQL), and address any problems that may arise.• Maintain databases including installing upgrades, protecting against threats, managing storage and security, various implementations, and other associated duties.• Performing routine backups and managing recovery using high-speed techniques to ensure our data is always safe.• Build high-quality databases that meet both back end and front-end needs, minimizing downtime and offering fast query responses.• Assist Application Developers with their database-related needs and approving all changes.• Drive database optimization by engaging with various team members to identify and correct poor queries.• Work closely with the applications teams to maintain a data dictionary• Build and maintain maintenance plans, with the ability to monitor root causes and swiftly resolve any issues.• Maintain and document audit trails, report on usage and performance, testing upgrades and sharing statistical information in accordance with company needs.• Create database policies that outline standards and procedures for associated team members. Establish Database Administrator best practices and SOP’s.• Assist in maintaining ETL and BI Tools to support the enterprise information systems.• Stay current with industry best practices.Work Experience, & Knowledge Required:• Experience with AWS RDS instances, and database migration to RDS is a plus• Expert understanding of data backup and recovery methodology, performance optimization and tuning, security and integrity, database migration, managing database connections, documentation, coding, and design.• Experience with third-party tools, DBA case tools (both front and backend), and strong knowledge of schema and data concepts and standards.• Analytical and critical thinking skills that assist in swift troubleshooting if/when issues arise.• Highly communicative (both verbal and written), with the ability to work both with a team or on your own as required.• Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and still maintain a precise attention to detail.• Ability to meet deadlines with attention to details and accuracy.• A strong desire to learn new technologies.• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum concepts and experience working in an Agile environment is a plus.Qualifications:• Five years of experience in working as a Database Administrator, including managing, administrating, and tuning databases, particularly with SQL server.Why Join Our Team?Foley is an employee-driven organization that regularly solicits employee feedback in an effort to create a positive work environment for our growing team.You’ll also look forward to:• Advancement opportunities• Competitive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision• 401(k) with company match• Student loan reimbursementWhat We Do, How We Do ItToo often, companies use a piecemeal approach when it comes to screening drivers.
