This position requires a drive and determination of understanding operating system technology, kernel internals, and modern processor architectures.
As part of the kernel development team, you will be working to deliver safety critical kernels utilized in products within The Boeing Company.
This position also requires the candidate to have a full stack mindset and be involved in the continual improvement and shaping of the development environment and tools utilized by the kernel development team.This position has been identified as a virtual opportunity and does not require applicants to live in Mesa, Arizona.The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R.
§ 120.15 is required.
“US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.Position Responsibilities:Develops, documents and maintains reusable architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces and designs for kernel software.Serves as a subject matter expert for kernel software domains, system-specific issues, processes and regulations.Creates and organizes a well-defined, estimated and prioritized set of initiatives, epics and stories to maintain a robust backlog for time-phasing and planning.Participates in daily scrums, using agile practices, to communicate clearly and openly on incremental progress and to inform the team of any help needed on impediments and roadblocks and suggest timely remedies for common ailments during retrospections.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics or other technical degree10 years of experience with C/C++10 years of real-time software operating experience5 years of experience with Linux/Unix operating systemsPreferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):Experience with open source projects and collaborationsExperience with modern processor architecturesExperience in total software development lifecycleExperience standing up Continuous Integration (CI) / Continuous Deployment (CD) pipelinesExperience with hermetic buildsExperience with configuration management of diverse systemsSafety Critical / FAA software certification experienceExperience with open source projectsMember of an Agile development teamTypical Education/Experience:Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.G.
Bachelor) and typically 14 or more years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.G.
PhD9 years’ related work experience, Master12 years’ related work experience).
