The Head of Community will be growing and leading our clients developer outreach, engagement and developer retention efforts.
Their sole focus will be leveraging the value of our rapidly growing developer community, scaling it globally, and activating engagement through proven methods and new and creative approaches.
This is a mid to senior-level role and is an opportunity for someone who has ample experience not just growing and managing large-scale virtual communities but thinking strategically about how talent, loyalty, and engagement within the community can be used to foster long-term growth and business goals.
Experience scaling network effects, developing processes and systems behind online virtual communities is seen as highly valuable.
The ideal candidate has a unique interest and leadership expertise at the intersection of virtual community building, community engagement, data analytics, technology, and strategy.
Core Responsibilities
Developer Retention
Develop and execute on our clients strategic plan for community retention and engagement.
Strategize on ways to effectively extract value out of existing community members.
Grow the number of developer evangelists that regularly build on our clients platform and support the community.
Structure and launch new programs, events, and initiatives focused on developer community cultivation.
Establish and grow a strong virtual developer community by collaborating with our Event Manager on event planning and via partnerships, content sourcing, social media campaigns, workshops, and other user engagement and acquisition programs.
Develop new tools, ideas, approaches, and best practices for developer evangelists to engage with the community; be reactive towards trends and adjust accordingly; stimulate conversations and moderate regional community channels.
Develop methods for data-driven decision making; set growth metrics for community engagement and surface insights from these analytics.
Operations & Management
Act as the primary point of contact for everything related to the strategy, operations, and management of our clients global developer community, growth and retention of the community.
Work closely with the Director of Learning and Director of Developer Acquisition to ensure retention and engagement at all touchpoints in the developer acquisition to retention funnel/journey.
A focus on moving fast with a clear direction, leading through ambiguity, and aligning teams to execute quickly on the right things.
Brand Management
Ensure the clients culture and core values are shared, maintained, improved upon, and enforced as their global developer communities grow.
Establish the vibe of the brand and community globally, offline and online, and in everything our client does for its developer community.
Qualifications
You are obsessed with making developers happy and successful and have worked closely with developer communities before, ideally in a growth or community-management related role.
You have 3+ years of experience leading developer relations or developer community advocacy programs.
You are analytical and data driven in your approach to building and nurturing communities.
You know how to run a marketing pipeline.
You are creative.
You have experience facilitating sensitive community situations with empathy and tact.
Proven track-record of finding innovative and creative ways to eek value out of an existing developer community
Significant experience in program management, community management.
Proven experience as a community manager or in senior-level campaign management (at some point in your career you had a track record of building communities: you ran a Discord, you were a moderator on Reddit, you ran a Meetup, managed an open source project etc.)
Superb marketing, writing, presentation, and communication skills
Strong understanding of data/metrics that need to be tracked and investigated to understand success and long-term performance in developer community acquisition and engagement
Excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills
Excellent spoken and written English
