Big Data / Engineering Director

Define and champion the big data strategy; lead the adoption and implementation of data technologies for large-scale, high-volume data solutions including data ingestion, analytics, and DaaS Grow and mentor agile teams focused on data delivery, encouraging highest standards of software craftsmanship and contribution to engineering and business goals.

Partner with product, architecture, and engineering teams to develop roadmaps, define features, forecast estimations and business delivery timelines.

Ensure solutions meet security requirements, including handling of PCI Data Standards Work with the Data Engineering and Infrastructure teams on data availability and capacity planning.

Drive data solutions across multiple geographical locations, meeting data governance, risk & controls, and standardization requirements Iteratively improve processes and automation to reduce failures and increase data load speeds for on-prem and cloud solutions.

Act as a technology leadership resource and facilitate communications, problem resolution, and effective delivery both within and outside the team Qualifications: Minimum of 12 years of experience with 6 years managing people In-depth understanding of inner workings of big data technologies like Hadoop, Kafka, Spark, MapReduce, Hive/Pig, Impala/Drill, Sagemaker, Athena, Glue, EMR, S3, Glacier storage Experience leveraging big data environments/frameworks to deploy analytical services.

Proven experience building and delivering a Big Data Platform including server builds, building tools and services that leverage data pipelines and compute resources efficiently Extensive experience with relational (Redshift, memSQL) and non-relational (NoSQL) DBMS (such as HBase, MongoDb, Cassandra) Experience building streaming or batch processing data pipeline.

Experience with cloud and other emerging technology solutions in enterprise data management.

Experience implementing customer data integration / master data management processes.

Experience with microservices /API development, management and have a solid understanding of distributed system concepts.

Experience working with automated build and continuous integration systems Possess a can-do, no-problem-too-big-or-too-small attitude.

Experience building, motivating, and leading teams to solve problems and deliver high-quality results in a fast-paced environment.

A strong understanding of Agile development methodologies (a passion for driving Agile is a plus) Comfortable working through ambiguity, dealing with complex problems and demonstrating good judgment under pressure.

BS/MS in computer science or a related field, or professional experience in data engineering and data management.

Experience with Data Science and Machine Learning Experience with data visualization tools: Hue, Kibana, Qlikview, Tableau Experience in next generation platforms such as cloud (AWS, Azure), PaaS, mobile Experience developing software using continuous integration/deployment pipeline that includes vendor solutions Experience with resource management (Spark, Yarn queues, Impala pools) Experience with Splunk Previous exposure to financial services, credit cards or merchant analytics Public cloud(AWS/Azure/Google) certification Experience with Cloud migration strategy
