**THE ROLE**
As part of the Mass Markets Finance Development Team this role will primarily focus on delivering software solutions that directly support the Finance business unit.
As a Backend Software Engineer you will be responsible for developing high-performance, restrictive, and testable APIs, simulations, and databases.
Everything we build is designed to run in the cloud with zero downtime and linear scalability. The team is beginning the journey to re-platform all our applications from an internal cloud platform to the Google public cloud so you can be instrumental in the planning and execution of this initiative.
**THE MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES**
– Build scalable enterprise applications that are highly performant and linearly scalable
– Deliver back-end services and APIs written in Golang and Java
– Work with various flavors of SQL to access data across a variety of no-sql and relational databases
– Deploy and operate applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
– Adhere to best practices for code testing, and CI/CD
– Support continuous improvement in DevOps Automation
– Be passionate about performance, testing, automation, and code quality
– Work in an Agile environment (Kanban)
– Responding to support requests and troubleshooting live bugs
– Consistently ship small features and enhancements with minimal guidance and support from other team members.
Collaborate with the team on larger projects.
**WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN A CANDIDATE**
– A Bachelor’s degree in a technical field; current students graduating by May 2022 may be considered
– Exposure writing back-end software using Go and/or Java
– Frontend development knowledge preferred
– Understanding of a current Cloud Platform (Google preferred)
– Strong personal drive for testing, learning, exploring, and finding better ways
– Proven track record of developing high-quality backend code
– An eye for performant readable code
– Self-sufficient problem solving and time management skills
– Works well with a team and maintains strong business ethics
– Ability to succeed in a rapidly changing environment
