Automation Technician

Position Summary:
The technician will install, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot automation equipment and controls. Perform testing and calibration of automation equipment and controls. Assist Automation Systems Specialist in managing the automation system spare controls and parts inventory and maintaining the automation system program documentation.

Essential Functions:

• Install, inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot automation equipment and controls.
• Assist in maintaining the automation system program documentation including, automation wiring schematics, wiring legends, and equipment records.
• Assist in managing the automation system spare controls and parts inventory.

Required Skills:

• Understanding of digital and analog devices and circuits, and ability to troubleshoot these circuits.
• Ability to use an electrical multi-meter.
• Understanding of safe electrical work practices.
• Understanding of AC/DC electrical theory.
• Understanding of NEC methods for installing low voltage control wiring.
• Understanding of intrinsically safe devices and installation of intrinsically safe circuits.
• Qualified to troubleshoot and repair 120 volt automation and control equipment.
• Ability to install metallic and non-metallic conduit.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Good technical/mechanical aptitude.
• Understanding of PLC’s.
